We had the good fortune of connecting with Wendi Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Wendi, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business started because of the ongoing pandemic. I, like many of us started working from home, and I had a lot more free time on my hands during quarantine. I was reminded of a passion that I really didn’t have time for a few years ago. I figured there was no better time than now to make things happen. I also needed to replace the income from the 3 jobs that I couldn’t work during the pandemic, so I dug into my creative side. As business took off, I started to look at my business as something I can pass down to my children one day, and something that creates generational wealth.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets my business apart are the details. I spend a lot of time adding in personal touches that won’t go unnoticed. I believe that packaging and small details like the glitter on top of my Shea butter, make the world of difference. People that purchase from me expect a sprinkle of me in my products. I don’t do anything with half of my effort. Minor details matter and color matters. I got here today by being myself, and allowing myself to have fun with what I do. The lessons I learned along the way were to market yourself everyday, set your price and be confident in it, and always give back to your consumers through giveaways and sales.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to Atlanta, I would take them to brunch at roc south or breakfast at Barney’s. I would also drag them to the gym on Thursday and Saturday for my trainer EJs step class and Mecca’s glute class. Piedmont park is always a cute spot to chill and relax when the weather is nice. I would also take them to Phipps Plaza, and a drive in movie. I can never get enough of Sugar Factory and their cute drinks, and of course self care is a must, we would go to massage envy for a massage and a facial at dermani med spa.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to the pandemic. I never thought that I could be this successful using my own talents and doing something I enjoy this much. It is because of the pandemic that my time opened up, the pandemic forced me to “figure it out.” And by that, I mean, I had to put 3 jobs on hold because we couldn’t work. I needed to supplement that income, so I got creative. That pandemic showed me that I had what it took the entire rime. It taught me to take myself seriously.
