We had the good fortune of connecting with Wendi Blum Weiss and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Wendi, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
While working in the pharmaceutical industry, I starting reading about the power of affirmations to bring more positivity in your life. so I decided to buy some Sharpie markers and tee shirts and wrote inspirational messages them.
They are started with a question “What is Your Destiny?” I decided to print them and sell them at trade shows and they became a big hit. (celebrities starting wearing them; Rachel Ray, Chelsea Lately, Whoopie Goldberg, etc). People started asking me for advice around the messages on the shirts-I wrote my first book containing the messages on the shirts.
A year later resigned (at the age of 50) and launched my success & strategy coaching business which is my mission and passion today. Helping men and women around the globe tap into their zone of brilliance and make a positive impact in the world.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
More about my business.
I came from a corporate background. We had rules. quotas. systems. When you are an entrepreneur you have to figure these things out on your own. I first started out as a wellness coach but then. realized with my sales and marketing background I could help more people by helping other wellness professionals set up the infrastructure to help them build a database of customers ultimately helping more people through professional speaking, writing and sales systems.
What sets me apart from others?t. My background of 30 years of business training combined with mastery level training in NLP and reprogramming the subconscious mind helps me do so to a much higher degree with the blend of both science, sales and systems when working with entrepreneurs.
What am I most proud of? The tangible results my clients get when working together. They often say how “I walk my talk” and the majority of clients work with me for 5-7 years.
How did I get where I am? One small step at a time. Going from 1 to 1 -to 1 to many from professionally speaking. Partnerships. community. collaborations. relentless curiouristy. passion.
Was it easy? definetely not. I have worked endless hours. almost given up many times. balancing my children, divorce and illness of family members.
How did I overcome challenges? Detaching from the outcome. Prayer. Giving myself pep talks in the mirror. Listening to audio books. MEDITATION. Hoponono. (forgiveness work). Looking into the eyes of my two sons.
What lessons have I Iearned along the way? so many. The power of believing. visualization works. Reverse enginnering. Never give up. Have partners. Eat health. Everything is energy. Meditation is powerful. God exists. Forgive everyone. Kindness. You can’t outgive the Universe. So many more lessons.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
What do I want the world to know about me, my brand and my story. It is never too late to begin again. I started a brand new career at the age of 50. Focus on delivering massive value and find a mentor who knows the ins and outs that can lead the way. (add to last question)
If I had a good friend coming to town for a week I would break down their experience into the following:
1.) Head to Midtown for an entire day – and walk the Beltline. Visit and eat at the Ponce City Market. People watch.
Other options: jog the Beltline. Restaurant/Bar 5Church
2.) Piedmont Park. Bring a blanket and have a picnic. Throw the frizbie. Listen to music.
3.) Go to a ballgame. Walk The Battery (Truist Park, home of the braves)
4.) Downtown- Take the golf cart tour. of Atlanta
5.) Visit Martin Luther King neighborhood. Ebenezer Church.
6.) Go to Buckhead. Shop at the trendy shops
7.) Chaistain Park for concerts (bring a picnic and bottle of wine).
8.) Hike the Roswell Waterfall -Vickery Creek Trail
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A big heartfelt sprinkle of gratitude to the teachings of Joseph Murphy, Michael Beckwidth and my very first business coach, Suzanne Evans.
A big shout out of appreciation to my husband, and two sons, Daniel and Cory.
