We had the good fortune of connecting with Von Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Von, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
The typical structural 9-5 being told what and how to has never fit me. I’ve never liked the feeling of bosses making employees feel less than. I had no choice but to take the leap of faith and create my own space. I knew I was never meant to fit into one specific box. I’ve always enjoyed having multiple outlets to express myself in a way that also happens to speak to others and genuinely assist them makes me happy and it all feels so good throughout the whole process. I believe in following the path of least resistance and doing what feels right, what feels good to me is such a rewarding life that I couldn’t not see myself in.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I write, I share, and I guide others to their purpose and healing. Through herbs, divination tools intuition, touch, tarot, and oracle. I have a group called Therapy for The Strong Woman which along with my blog my overall purpose is to help women find their purpose and heal naturally. Us women are the foundation of the home and we deserve an outlet. I create a safe space to naturally network and just let your hair down. I create experiences. Women from all backgrounds and careers speak their truth to see they are not alone. I am also finishing up school to be a licensed massage therapist. And I create fun bold yet meaningful t shirts to dress up or down. I do a lot but the goal is to assist women to learn and grow into the best versions of themselves so they can pass on to the next all while feeling good. I am proud of everything I do! I love helping women feel good about themselves and showing them they are not alone, the first, last or only. I got here through my own struggles. Many of us aren’t taught to accept our flaws instead hide them and to just suck up whatever you’re not happy with. I’ve always known I was not meant to be put in a box and I refuse to. I had to create my own path and in slowly speaking up and out about my feelings I realized I wasn’t alone any something had to be done. It was not easy because I didn’t want to be something just because of its prestigious title. I wanted to create my own path even though my own family frowned up their face in the beginning . Luckily I still had people in my corner who pushed me to explore and discover what I was meant to do. My husband and I worked hard to get to a position where I do not have to work a typical 9-5 that literally had me in tears every day. Through all of this I’ve learned to never quit dreaming and make the necessary steps to get clarity to go after your dream even if no one is cheering you on. I want people to know that my brand is me it is the dream of a once young girl now an unapologetic perfectly imperfect woman working to give her all to assist other women. People don’t realize when the woman is good the rest of the home and the people in it are too! Own who you are own your story your pain your truth your happiness explore yourself the possibilities are endless.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I personally love to host people and create an experience for my friends. So before taking guests around the town I would say always start with what you know at home it makes the trip more special. I take pride in my home and I love to be outdoors. I also love to create and put extra thought into it as a whole experience when my best friends visit. The trip would consist of a cute set up in my backyard on the deck, a nice home cooked meal my favorite to cook would be coconut rice herbed veggies and red snapper, fresh margaritas or mojitos by me. Ideally a breeze would be blowing as the sun goes down so we can light the fire pit and catch up and enjoy the trees and nature. As a massage therapist I would have to show off my skills and set them up for an in-home massage by me the next morning before exploring the city! We all love to take pictures so west provisions district is one of my favorites. Ponce city market for Modern Mystic walk or bike the beltline over to krog street market check out the graffiti tunnel eat at Bartaco they have great drinks! Another day we’d check out Crystal Blue in little five points, Phoenix and Dragon, and end the day with a picnic in the park a go to is always Piedmont park. I love hiking and love to find the trails with waterfalls like sweetwater creek. Cyclebar is a fun way to get a fun workout in! I personally love keeping it simple. I prefer home cooked meals over eating out and I love mini shops versus the mall. You can never go wrong with a day in the park! Atlanta has plenty to choose from.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My tribe consists of my amazing husband, friends, family, and supportive clients. For believing in me and supporting me in multiple ways even when no one else is looking. To those who confide in me to tell me their story and secrets and allow me to pass the lesson on to others. To those who respect and value my opinion. To those who question me and challenge me to dig deeper no matter how tough it may be. To those who simply ask what’s next. They all give me the push to continue and explore my endless possibilities.
