We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Miles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Victoria, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have always been a creative person and I have dabbled in many different types of crafts over the years. I found that being artistic & creative was a terrific form of therapy! I became even more passionate about it when I developed some medical issues that took me out of the work force. I decided at that point to become my own boss and do what I love! This also helped me immensely because I now have a business that can relocate with me! Growing up a military child and now being a military spouse, I have experienced some of the struggles of constantly relocating. It isn’t always easy to keep a career or build up your business again after every move. With my business, I have the ability to service the local area and also ship all over the United States and even overseas because my products are sustainable. Being my own boss can be hard work at times, because the boss can be a little tough… hahaha…but it truly is so rewarding and it’s been an amazing journey so far! I jump for joy and do a little happy dance every time I get an order…every single time!! There really isn’t much else that can compare to that feeling, well, except for puppies…hahaha!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I create floral arrangements with wood flowers! Home decor items, wedding florals and everything in between! The very unique thing that sets wood flowers above fresh flowers, is that they last a lifetime! Wood flowers are actually made from the roots of the Cassava Bush. The roots are shaved into thin sheets and hand crafted into beautiful flowers! These wood flowers are eco friendly and can be custom dyed to match any decor / wedding colors! I have found that most brides want to preserve aspects of their wedding, especially their florals. When you choose wood flowers, you are investing in true keepsake items, they will stay just as stunning for years to come! I am super proud that I have been able to bring so many of my amazing clients’ floral visions to life. Striving to be the best that I can be just to be able to provide the best experience for my clients. It isn’t always easy, but I am so eager to learn new techniques and create new styles in an ever changing floral industry! One of the biggest lessons I have learned along the way, is that everything is trial and error. You will make mistakes and that is okay, you’ve just gotta dust yourself off and try again! Give yourself some grace and learn from every experience.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is definitely pretty spectacular! I am a huge animal lover and most of my family / friends are too, so I would start off by taking them to the aquarium and the zoo! I also really love the Botanical Gardens. Atlanta really never disappoints in the food scene, it’s truly a foodies dream! Atlanta is just so full of amazing culture, food, music, architecture and art.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shout out my two biggest cheerleaders! My amazing husband and my mom! Honestly I have no idea where I would be today if I didn’t have them both in my life. My husband is seriously the best! He truly is my inspiration. He is my person and I wouldn’t want to do life without him. My mom pushes me to keep going when times seem hard and I just love her so much!
