We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Gutierrez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Victoria, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I grew up in a military family, so we moved around a lot. I’ve lived in different states and even overseas, which taught me to be able to adapt quickly to change, which is definitely reflected in how I tackle content creation today. I also come from a family of pretty bold and loud personalities, so I was always raised to be unapologetically myself and pursue whatever my heart desires.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what initially set me apart on social media is that I was taking it so seriously in the first place. I started posting in 2017 when being an “influencer” or content creator wasn’t necessarily as “cool” as it is now. I was made fun of a lot, but I’ve always brushed off other people’s opinions of me which is super important. If I took everyone’s opinions so seriously, I’d never be doing this.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This definitely depends on the visitor, but luckily living in Atlanta means there’s something for everyone to enjoy. No matter what, lots of coffee shop dates would be in the itinerary. There’s enough fun ones in the city to go to a new one every day of the week. Anyone has to see Piedmont Park, go to a Braves game, walk the Belt line, visit Ponce City Market, and any perfect day in my eyes is ended at a rooftop bar.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Probably my mom! It’s tough explaining to anyone, especially and older generation, that you’d like to pursue a career in social media, but she has always remained my biggest fan.
