We had the good fortune of connecting with Veda A. McCoy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Veda A., any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I am a firm believer in God’s grace. God gives us “grace” for “every place” in our lives. Where God guides God provides. Where God leads He keeps. In other words, everywhere that God sends us, there will be a sufficient supply of God’s supernatural power and unmerited favor for us to succeed. Of course, to succeed, we must persevere through difficulty and challenges. That is what grace is for. However, there comes a moment where we know in our hearts that we no longer have “grace for this place.” That is when we know it is time to move on. When we arrive at these crossroads, we don’t just drop everything and walk away. That is not the path to success either. We simply as God certain questions to take us forward in destiny. Now what? What else? Who can I train to do what I’ve been doing? I don’t necessarily believe in giving up. The adage is true. Quitters never win and winners never quit. But we must learn how to move forward. To let go. To go with the “flow of grace” present in our lives for the NOW SEASON.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career path is multi-faceted and multi-dimensional. I used to apologize for this and feel bad that I didn’t have that “one thing” that I did or pursued. I no longer do that. I’ve accepted that this is how I was designed to be. I am a career educator, with over 22 years of experience. For the past 8 years, I have been an elementary school principal. I am also a national recording artist, and I have recorded travelled the world with some of gospel’s greatest artists such as Pastor Shirley Caesar, Bishop Marvin Winans, Byron Cage, and others. I am an ordained elder and have been in the ministry for over 30 years. For 17 years, my husband and I have pastored a church we planted, Judah Christian Center, in the DMV. I am an author of several books and I also have my own corporation, Unlock Your Life, which focuses on helping women discover their purpose, walk in their personal power and to build prosperity in every area of their lives. What makes me different is my passion. I am deeply a passionate and committed person. And, although I am not a comedian and rarely “try” to be funny, my wit and sense of humor are also qualities that my family and friends enjoy!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A week long trip with my bestie would definitely include the following: * Spa Day with a massage, sauna, steam room, and hours in the lounge drinking tea and meditating
* Day trip to Miami or Jamaica for 2 or 3 days
* The Beach
* Fine dining at a great restaurant
* Jazz Concert – OR BELLA DONNA if they’re playing somewhere
* Chill Time/Binge watching a series with some good snacks in our PJ’s
* Lectures or speeches by any of these people – Michele Obama, Oprah Winfrey
* Shopping

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate this shout out to my two sisters Betty Grayson and Theresa Nicely. They have always believed in me, supported me and cheered me on to pursue my dreams.
