Meet Vanicha Suwansiri | Character Artist and 3D Generalist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Vanicha Suwansiri and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vanicha, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
As an artist, learning is the huge key to my success. I spend time updating and learning new software, technique, and workflow. Doing that will give me a better vision to polish my result and a faster workflow to complete my work. If you are working in this industry, you would not know what you will get on the next project that comes to your plate. With the long list of software I can use, I became a perfect artist for problem-solving and can jump into any project requiring specific software on the workflow. It gives you a better value for yourself and makes you a reliable person for your team and your company.
Moreover, trying new knowledge and learning on my personal and professional projects is a beautiful experience. It feels like you keep opening a new toy box and enjoying your new toy until it becomes your favorite, that you can keep doing it for a living. The other fun part about this industry is if you are in the correct place, you will find yourself in an area where a load of people with the same passion can exchange with you and help each other grow to be better artists.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I can proudly say that I have a lot of support. It is not only my friends and my family but also everyone I meet along the way. I hope to be someone who also supports people.
It takes work along my journey. Notting is easy if you want to pressure the big dream, but it will be easy if you take a baby step. Everything needs to develop with time and patience. The only thing that will make it easier is your passion; if you enjoy what you are doing, this journey will be easier for you, and you will find out that you want to pursue this good challenge. My advice is not to follow other people’s paths; everyone has their own story.
I learned that the best way to be a good digital is to treat software as a tool to generate your thought in the perfect outcome you can. Please do not let it control your vision. Technology is improving and becoming easier to use, especially AI, which is becoming useful for many tools. Still, I discovered people lost their style and identity after allowing the computer to overdo their jobs. Please keep in mind that you need to be the one who controls it.
I use my experience and knowledge to solve all the problems and build my style. I always use my visual effects and animation backgrounds to create work supporting my storying with women artists’ identities. I can translate concept art into 3D models that fully respect the design. Also, because I have experience in many companies in a short time and love to switch between software, I got a lot of compliments that I’m a fast learner and good at communication.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I recommend my friend visit the downtown Atlanta area for the first visit. It has many fun attractions, such as the Georgia Aquarium, the Coca-Cola Museum, and the CNN tour, which you cannot find anywhere else—especially Coca-Cola Museum, where you can learn about everyone’s favorite drinks and try many beverages worldwide. I also love to visit Georgia Aquarium to meet cute sea otters with many cute sea animals and plants.
For food, Snackboxe Bistro is the best restaurant in Atlanta. Pork belly Laap and papaya salad with sticky rice are perfect for lunch and dinner. The taste is so refreshing from fresh lime juice with authentic herp that matches a super crunchy pork belly that you may not taste somewhere else. It is a taste that everyone will love.
I also recommend my friend visit the area during Momo con events in May. They will find a lot of fun activities, conferences, game tourmates, and handmade merchandise from local artists. However, if they miss it, I recommend they go to Netherworld Haunted House in October. They will experience the horrifying experience of high-quality animatronics, experienced actors, special effects, and sets. Everything is well-designed in this Haunted House. It is an experience that you need to try once in your life. They will have a wonderful experience in Atlanta for sure.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When I was younger, I almost gave up on being an artist. I grew up in an education system where grades are more important than anything else. I could have done better at following the teacher’s commands, making me the worst student in the class. The art class in my school works the same way; while other kids draw everything that the teacher said, I draw everything I want to, and I only succeed in some classes. Until I met Manee Chanmanee, she was the only teacher with the highest score for my creativity, encouraging me to keep up my dream and work harder. Even though no one would appreciate my work, she would still believe in me. If I had never met my best teacher, I would not found my passion and become an artist like today.
The other people I should shout out here are my family, who support me under pressure for my dream no matter what it costs. Also, emotional support and a safe zone for me whenever I want.
Thank you to all my professors and friends from Savannah College Art and Design, especially Harold Wang, Professor Malcolm Kesson, and Stuart Robertson, that taught me and supported meme in any project.
Thank you to every co-worker from Pixomondo and Spin VFX—also Laura Hohman, who mentored me in pursuing my dream.
Also, Thank you to all my friends and co-worker at Electronic Art Orlando for welcoming me to the team and being a good team player for the PGA tour and Madden — especially my onboarding buddy Corey Thomas and my manner Carol Eastwood and Katie Freeman. Everyone introduced me to the world where we speak the same language and finally made me find where I belong.
Thank you, Cecilia Lajon, for inviting me to work as an operation lead for ASPIRE community. You bring me to a world where I do not feel isolated by my identity and culture. You give me a place to represent and share the culture with the team and everyone. I would love to see the work from our team will make the Asian community better and stronger.
I know that my life here is a long journey, and will have so many things I must shout out about. More importantly, I would like to thank you for everything that came into my life and grew me into a better person today.
