We had the good fortune of connecting with Vanessa Cheatham and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vanessa, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The main factor behind my success is my supportive team/family. My manager/dad, Shawn Cheatham Sr (DJ Shawn) , is the glue that holds everything together with our ventures and ensures that I don’t get screwed over like how most artists and other people may have. My brother/producer, Shawn Cheatham Jr (Shawn Navi) is the reason why I have any music released in the first place and has helped elevate my sound that you hear today. I’m very heavy on family because they’re the backbone to why I’m able to be successful at what I do while challenging me to do and be better.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My sound is heavily influenced by Aaliyah, Left Eye, and Missy Elliot. I have a whimiscal sound to my music with versatile genres that ranges from Hip-Hop, RnB, Rock, Pop, and more! I’m obsessed with holographic and rhinestone designs because it makes me feel like I can take over the world with glam and energy! Veve C is who I am as a whole and HomeCave Records is our family label that we built from our home (literally). I want to bring a new element to this generation of music, while bringing different styles to my energetic flow.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I always loved the beach setting but any place where I can see the water view in a warm setting and maybe a few cocktails to set the mood! And GOOD FOODDDD cuz I can EAT!!!!!
