We had the good fortune of connecting with Valerie Roman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Valerie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always had the desire to make a significant impact in the communities I am part of. I believe one of the best ways to fulfill that desire is to start your own business. I have been preparing myself for years to make this dream come true. I gained experience in my field, I created a plan and delivered it despite fear. I trusted my knowledge, skills, experience and family support to run a successful business. I believe the best way to achieve this is to lead by example and to provide unique, one of a kind care to people. I believe the most important factor behind my success has been my determination. There are things we overcome in our lifetime, but the biggest thing that separates the ordinary from extraordinary is determination. Starting a business, essentially still during a pandemic, was the most terrifying thing I have ever done. However, I remain determined to care, educate and lead my community through the healing process because I believe I am in the best position to do so.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the co-owner and co-founder at Coweta Chiropractic. We provide chiropractic services for people through Coweta County. Our office is in Newnan, Georgia. Our vision is to help people recover from car accidents, slip and falls, and work-related injuries. We also assist people on how to prevent injuries in the future by providing educating them about best practices and home therapies. What sets us apart from other businesses is that we are a bilingual family business that strives to not only heal the clients but educate them and bring awareness on how to take the best care of their bodies. What makes me proud is seeing every client’s face when they leave the office. I see the significant difference from the first visit to their last one. The confidence each client has, knowing they are in a better place mentally and physically compared to when they started with our office.
Starting a new endeavor is never easy. It took years of education and working under the mentorship of others to gain the knowledge and confidence to start my own business. Even though I am extremely confident in my abilities to provide excellent service to our clients, there are other aspects of running a business that people do not see. For example, the behind the scenes efforts of marketing to make sure there is awareness of what my business offers. Also, trying to keep a healthy balance for work and family, especially with a young child.
I want the world to know that we are the best at what we do. Every client gets a unique experience molded to their needs. We use all of our resources to ensure that the experience is seamless, stress-free, and the client is comfortable for each appointment as well as all procedures that are recommended. Our brand is based on compassionate care combined with the ability to treat and educate every person that walks through our door. Lastly, we value integrity and honesty. There are times when we must refer a potential customer to a more specialized physician because their injuries go behind our level of experience.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of my favorite spots in Atlanta are located in Inman Park. There is nothing in Atlanta like “The Beltline”. It is a multi-use trail, lovely green open space with multiple activities to do including grabbing great foods, drinks, exercise, etc. Exploring the Beltline is a great way to spend a day in Atlanta. It is perfect for friends, families or even going on a date. One of my favorite restaurants in the area is Barcelona Wine Bar. This is one of the best tapas places in Atlanta. The environment is chill, the food is incredible and the crowd is quite welcoming. If you are in the mood for something more low key, the Victory Sandwich Bar hits the spot every time. They are known for their whiskey-coke slushie. I recommend continuing your journey in the park with scooters or bikes as you explore the many local shops and artists. Next, you must visit The Battery. It has such a variety of amazing restaurants, shops, and games to play. Make sure you stop by Sports and Social. It has such a great vibe and it’s a must for me every time I visit the area. This is a great place for meeting with friends, enjoying fantastic food as you unwind after a long day of work. If time permits, I would do a quick stop by the waterfalls and visit my favorite trail, Cochran Mill Park.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Throughout my career I have been fortunate enough to have many friends and mentors to assist me along the way. When I first started my career as one of very few female chiropractors in the Atlanta area, I was fortunate enough to work with Dr. Dana Kind while working for Peachtree Rehab. Dr. Kind showed me leadership, best business practices, as well as how to be a compassionate and caring chiropractor. As I continued in my career and decided to open my own business, the amount of support from my family was overwhelming. I also found great inspiration from the works of Tony Robbins. He really motivated me to take the risk to open my own business and pursue my dreams of making an impact in my community.
