We had the good fortune of connecting with Valencia Gibbs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Valencia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process for starting my own business was inspired by being unemployed, homeless, and displaced after Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I feel that the natural haircare side of Cosmetology is what set me aside from most hairdressers. Hardwork, determination and preservation got my business to where it is today. It was NOT a cake walk, but it was all worth it. Being a divorcee with 2 children made it difficult for me to dedicate myself to the business fully at first, bc I didn’t have a support system or much family in the state of Georgia. The lesson of determination and trusting God was my biggest lesson learned along the way.
I would love for the world to know that trusting the process and believing in yourself and having the faith of a mustard seed is the biggest thing that you can do for yourself!!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My children were my motivation for my success in my career.
