We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyrone McQueen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyrone, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Work and life can be seen as the same thing especially if you’re doing something that you love, you don’t really consider this work. I love what I do so the way that I would look at the question , work is my photography and my life such as my kids. The two have started to intertwine. My children love to watch me work and they are interested so I allow them to work along with me. Which means bringing them to some of my photo shoots. Allowing them to shoot some shots teaching them to edit and look for detail. So my balance is nurturing the artistic talents of my children for their future. I have a son that is an amazing artist and a daughter that is very interested in making her own music. Both also love Photography, so it is my job now to teach what I have learned over the years doing this with them. They keep me balanced they keep me grounded and they keep me grinding.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As much as I would like to say I’ve gotten rich and famous doing photography it is not the reality. I have a professional life also. I work accounts payable for one of the largest and longest running scrap metal dealers in the united states. Recent talks with ownership will allow my creative side start to come to pay with their marketing strategies in the near future.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a native of Charleston South Carolina so if you come to my city please believe you are going to eat well. If my friend is a lover of seafood then we would have to hit places life ” The Codfather, Magnolia’s, Mrs. roses or any restaurants at Shem Creek. Beaches, water and boat life. depending the season we could spend evenings around the fire pit or at a high school football game. You only limit yourself in a place like Charleston.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Give an honor to God, first and foremost. shoutout to my biggest supporters, My mother Earline McQueen, and my children, Qiana, Darian and Qaiya. I am thankful for anyone that gave me the opportunity to work with them and make their vision some true.
