We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Gold and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyler, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Initially I have always wanted to work for myself after years and years of going above and beyond to prove myself to others in a business. Finally pulling the plug and pushing myself to be a success for myself not for others.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Initially I was always interested in music. I got my start in high school taking guitar lessons and starting garage bands. Then in college joined a band and played and toured before quitting the band to finish college up. I had to figure out an outlet for my music drive but as a solo act. I decided to drop a months worth of bartending money I saved to by dj equipment. Took hours hours and more hours or playing around and trial and error. Eventually turned into djing frat parties and mixers for my friends fraternity. Then after graduating college I started djing bars and clubs which later led to wanting to make my own tracks and create a brand to push myself. Initially I started as DJ AU in college, eventually rebranding to something more unique and more fitting, AUTHENTIK. The main drive for the brand and my music, livesets, and style are high energy, memorable, and a unique unforgettable experience all packed into one. Along the way I have learned to do it for the love of the music, not for the clout, fame, or money. You can see the difference in live sets from two differently motivated people, so I always follow the love for music and entertaining people.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I were back in western New York, hands down would have to take the out for a night in downtown Buffalo. The night life is one and only, and very unforgettable. I would have to take them to Lloyd’s taco truck for a burrito, a one of a kind food experience. Lastly we have to kick back to drink some of buffalos finest labatt blue lite beers.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to give a huge shoutout to a a few great friends that really helped me along the way and pushed me to never give up. huge shoutout to Gil, aka Solid Alibi, one of my first dj/producer friends I had. Additionally a huge shoutout and appreciate to Eric, aka Good vs. Evil for being the light and motivation to keep going.
