We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyla Harrington-Talbutt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyla, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I knew after being fired from my first job at age 19 that I wouldn’t want to continue working for other people. I always felt like I never belonged anywhere, so when I was able to take the leap, I took it!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is in everything that I do. I am the most proud of creating immersive art experiences in some local galleries in Orlando. I will curate an art show and curate not only the art on the walls, but the lighting, decor and even the smells of the space. If I have the budget to, I bring out my band, SoulBase. If not, I’ll bring in my DJ friends and create a playlist to further curate this vibe. It feels good to hear someone say “I always know when you are behind an event”.

My bread and butter is my production company, ViewHouse Productions where I capture weddings, events, corporate, portraits, etc. I also have my band SoulBase that is my creative outlet. We gig mostly at small venues or galleries. I host and sing and put other folks on stage. Our jam sessions are pretty epic.

The thing that sets me apart from other creators is that I am my own one woman production team. Promotion is easier, with professional photos and video. My husband helps with grabbing snapshots and I have a dope shooting partner Gene of UpFilmz who also is a saving grace.

Nothing is ever easy. Its hard work. People have let me down and hurt my feelings, but I always remind myself that what’s bothering me is not more important than my end goal. I take the time to feel my feelings and I keep going. It’s always worth it. I want the world to see the hard work and the love that I move in. Integrity means everything to me and I want to make sure that I contribute positively to my community by creating not only a safe space but offering them content to help them move forward in their careers.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My two favorite spots in Atlanta are the Westside Warehouse; this cool little antique shop omg and Atlanta Botanical Garden, for obvious reasons. It’s so beautiful.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank Kayla Bell, my cheerleader, friend and inspiration, my bestie Bianca Jacobs of Bloom Theorie, my husband Billy Talbutt and my children, Jayla and Peyton who are my rocks.
