We had the good fortune of connecting with Tricia Lakes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tricia, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
The biggest and most rewarding risk I have taken to date was to step out on faith, trust my own instincts, to cultivate a passion into a small business. I am grateful for the opportunity, support, and the network that has allowed me to gain so much from this initial risk.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Musically Me provides music education services to students in Atlanta! Schools contract us to enhance their curriculums allowing them to offer violin, piano, or general music classes. We also provide in-home music lessons and tutoring. As a certified Montessori Teacher for infants and toddlers, my experience in education is with an age group of students who usually do not have access to specialized music instruction. I believe what sets my business apart is our partnerships with preschools and the dedication to providing top notch music opportunities to students of diverse ages, backgrounds, and abilities!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When my friends visit we make lists of the places we want to eat. For brunch Garden Parc or The Beverly for great food, drinks, and atmosphere. Slutty Vegan is always on the list and receives high compliments from anyone that visits. If we are looking to treat ourselves I would suggest Iwi Fresh for a spa day. For dinner and drinks I typically choose between Two Urban Licks, Pasha, or 5 Church.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out to my friend, mentor, and amazing entrepreneur/CEO Makara Rumley! I still have notes from our brainstorm conversations about starting my own business years before Musically Me was founded. She has always been ready with the best advice and listening ear. Thank you!
