We had the good fortune of connecting with Trey Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Trey, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
To answer this question, I have to take you back to my childhood. This is what made me have the drive and hustle I have today. When I was younger my mother was really sick she was diagnosed with kidney failure so everyday no matter how sick my mother was and no matter how bad she felt, she never checked out from being a mother. Not one day that she was alive can I say that she didn’t put everything she had and plus some, to her treatments and to still being the best mom a son could ever wish for. She told me when I was younger, you don’t start things and not finish. It may take a few days, it may take years but you finish, you don’t quit. My father was just as ambitious he worked a few jobs to pay for my mothers treatments, while keeping a roof on our head. Needless to say we didn’t have much, but we had a lot of love. I could remember times not knowing where my next meal would come from or how we were going to get it or when our lights would be back on, because they were turned off by the power company, but we held are head high and kept a smile and most of all we stuck together. I approach everyday now as if I was still in those situations. Those situations gave me the drive and work ethic to continue to strive for greatness and to never give up no matter what you are faced with.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a personal trainer, I own my own personal training studio and now working on opening my own full gym. I started from the bottom, I trained clients outside in the hot or cold, until I could get enough money to get my own studio. That took about a year, within the first 4 months of being in my studio business took off and I had to expand my studio. Now almost two years, I am looking at opening my own full size gym. One thing that sets me apart from other personal trainers is, I do a lot of work with the mind, not just training the body. You can’t expect a client to make a lifestyle change until there mind is in it. This is just a much mental as it is physical. I don’t want to sound cocky, because I one of the most humble people you will ever meet, but so far business has been easy for me, I learned how to turn my passion into profit. Now that’s not to say I haven’t have problems arise, who hasn’t but what is success without a little adversity. If I was to leave people with a lesson I have learned it is to never run from your pass, embrace it and make it your motivation and when it’s all said it done, don’t be shy to say, this is how I made it, because you never know who is listening or watching, you just may be what gives he or she the inspiration to keep going.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m really home body, I just like to hang out with my wife she is my best friend but if I had to choose some spots here are my favorites. Let’s start with food, we have so many but if I’m going to get food, the flying biscuit is where I am going. You can get food and drinks right here all with a nice comfortable homey kind of vibe. Next a walk through firefly trail, I love to sight see so just walking on a nice sunny day with a little breeze is just fine with me. And then of course if you are a football fanatic like me, well you have the national champions right here. Yes the Georgia bulldogs, you have to catch the game and there is no Saturday like a football Saturday in Athens ga. The whole town can feel it.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I will try to keep this as short as possible, but I have so many to thank. First I have to start with the good man up stairs, because without him I don’t think I would made it through most of the things I have been through. Then I have to thank my lovely wife Nicole Johnson, she has been my rock, she has seen me go through so much to get to where i am today, not once did I ever feel she wasn’t in my corner. She & my daughter became my new motivation to do better, each day I woke up, I told myself that no matter what happens make sure these two are always straight. My dad, mom, father in law and my mother in law, talk about a group of people who if I needed something would be on the next possible flight, just to make sure trey was good to go, you can’t replace those kind of people. And least but not last my awesome clientele, you guys are so awesome. They have made trey the talk of the town, none of this would have been possible with you all and I do mean each and everyone of you and if you are one of clients, you know it’s a bunch of you. I’m sorry if I missed anyone, because I literally could be writing all day so thanks to everyone involved no matter how major or minuke. I don’t have to mention your name for you to know I’m talking to you..
