We had the good fortune of connecting with Treble NLS and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Treble, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want my legacy to be NLS. I want to remind the world to Never Lose Sight of the possibilities. I want to inspire people to utilize their creativity in ways that keeps them up to Next Level Shit. I want people to look at me as an example of how to maintain light and love even when there’s No Love Spared. I want to invite a Next Level Spirit to take over the process of life, and help people realize the power we have as divine individuals. I want people to remember that I was never afraid to be myself. I want people to remember how my music made them feel. I want people to remember how much of my heart went into every piece of art. I want generations to remember the jewels I drop in my music. I want the sentiments to be timeless enough to still apply 30 years later. I want to create the opportunities for myself that will help me to create opportunities for my community. I want my legacy to be a trail of successful people that were inspired to create the life they want to see for themselves like I did.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My shop is REJECT Pgh. It is an online apparel brand with the mission to help REJECT that which blocks your access to joy. We do themed drops that sell out pretty quickly. You can find the shop at rejectpgh.com. The main goal with REJECT is to inspire better wellbeing for the community around us. I am also a hip hop artist and producer. You can find my music on all streaming platforms. You can find some of my earlier works on soundcloud. I’ve also written songs and produced for one of my dearest friends, an artist named Brittney Chantele. I played a part in producing her album, “A Fire on Venus” and I also co-wrote on “A Golden Opportunity”. I also have production credits with artists like Jordan Montgomery, Najj Andrea, and NLS Ron. I’ve also produced theatre scores such as Dominique Morisseau’s “Pipeline” with 1Hood Media and City Theatre. I am currently the head teaching artist at 1Hood Media. Our mission is to liberate the community through arts, social justice, education, and media. I play my role by passing the torch to the youth through my teaching artistry, while also helping to organize the art side of things. My career is one built from a passion for the people. I do what brings me joy while also aiding in the growth of myself or my community.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So we’ll need a pretty well rounded itinerary for our week in Pittsburgh. The first thing we need to do is show you the city you’re about to visit. We’ll spend our first day exploring the overlook in Mt. Washington. We’ll make our way down to the Grandview overlook to see if they have any movie nights in the park with the city skyline as the backdrop. The next day we’ll go to the place we can see from the Mt. Washington overlook; The point. It’s said that the point is one of the most spiritual places in the country, so we’ll grab a bite to eat from somewhere in Downtown Pittsburgh, then make our way to the point via a free trolley ride courtesy of the Pittsburgh Steeler’s. We’ll find a place near the water that also has a great view of the fountain so we can really bask in that spiritual essence the gurus mentioned while we enjoy our meal. The next thing we need to do is visit our very own college town; Oakland. In Oakland we’ll stop by my favorite chiken spot, Chikn, and enjoy a recipe I still wonder how to make at home. We can hit Rita’s for a sweet dessert to go with our lunch. When we finish our meal, we’ll walk it off with a trip to Panther Hollow to sit near the most interestingly shaped pond I ever seen in my life. Then the rest is up to you. We can go high end, or we can kick it in the hood. Whatever the vibes are, I’ll get you right. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have a lengthy list of people and organizations to dedicate this shoutout to:

– Center of Life’s “KRUNK Movement” for grooming me into the performer I am today, and for providing me with a solid arts community as a teenager.
– Jerri for being the best mother one could ask for and for pouring my cup with love from day one.
– Nathanielle Louis for loving me genuinely everyday and inspiring my growth as a person in this world.
– Kiwi Berry for being the best friend one could ask for, and contributing to the fact that I’m still alive and well.
– 1Hood Media for helping me grow professionally as an artist, putting me in front of such dope opportunities, and hiring me so I could work full time doing what I love instead of part time stress at Starbucks.
– Jasiri X for making me feel like I can be as legendary as he is, helping me to see the bigger picture from a perspective of personal power, and being the amazing community leader that someone like myself could look up to.
– Farooq Al Said for being the older brother I never had.
– To all of my NLS homies (Ron, Q, Jordan, Mckenzie, Sean, Terrell, Vapo, X, Darrell, etc.) for being my dogs and contributing to my growth as a person with a movement such as NLS.
– Ekhart Tolle’s “A New Earth” for educating me on consciousness and being aware of the ego.
– Cyndi Dale’s “Book of Chakra Healing” for teaching me the ways of the chakras and opening my eyes to the interconnectedness of the world and our power in it.
– Everyone I met through 1Hood Media for providing me community, inspiring me to be a better artist everyday, and for being such great friends.
– My Pittsburgh artists community for every opportunity granted that helped me further my career, for providing me with such great friends and partners, for inspiring my artistic expression, and for all the love shown throughout the years. There’s too many of you to list, but you know exactly who you are. If you’re an artist, and we’ve had creative interactions both professionally and personally this is about you.
