We had the good fortune of connecting with Treats N Transit and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Treats N Transit, what do you attribute your success to?
Treats N Transit is a family-owned business. For us, the most essential factor for our success is and has always been family. Our success lies within the solid connections and familial bonds we share. From the design on the bus, created by Amari, the eldest daughter of the family, to our infamous cake jars, first brought to life and sold in the hallways of his high school by eldest son Derek, every success that TNT has had can be attributed to an idea by one of our family members, and then the unwavering support from the rest.
What should our readers know about your business?
Treats N Transit in its entirety is a product of love. We pour love into each other and every product that we sell. Of all the wonderful treats we have to offer, we are most proud of our homemade goods. These include our cookies, brownies, cake jars, and our most recent addition, this season’s customer favorite; our Cake Daze. These are our homemade cake and ice cream jars with loads of delicious toppings that perfectly enhance each flavor. Those flavors are Cookie Dough Rumble, Strawberry Overload, Cookies and Creme Blast, Butter Pecan Bomb, and Birthday Cake Boom!
Our Journey is one where we have learned as we go. We wouldn’t say it’s been easy, but we have found our problems to definitely be less complicated with so many minds coming together to help plan and operate the business. Operations are handled by the parents of the family Gary and Sandra, and although all children contribute, Amari (24) takes the lead. To overcome challenges, we delegate our issues to the person with the most experience in the area. Being a family of 10+, those areas are vast and seemingly unlimited.
I think our most important lessons thus far have been balancing and patience. We are family owned and operated and we often have to switch hats fairly quickly. A regular family dinner can quickly become a business meeting. This also means, that occasionally things slip through the cracks because you know another family member will ultimately take care of what needs to be done (cue loads of patience). For the younger members of the family, responsibility and ownership are their biggest takeaways.
We have learned the value of investing in oneself, staying true to oneself, and believing in one’s dreams. Treats N Transit was thought of by siblings, Amari(24), Jordan(21), Justyn(20), Jaydon(17), and Chrystal(16). Gary and Sandra Rudolph believed in their children and their dreams and aspirations and made them come to fruition.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my (Amari) favorite places to visit in Atlanta is Krog Street! It’s a one-stop shop. There are tons of restaurants to try and the ATL belt line is right there. Not far from Krog Street is the Krog Street Tunnel, the home to some really cool graffiti. The best part? Anyone can add to the wall at any time! Such pretty artwork that is always changing.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To all of our friends and extended family whose support never wavered, we love and appreciate you all so much.
