We had the good fortune of connecting with Tracey Lyons-White and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tracey, what do you attribute your success to?
I believe relatability has been the driving factor behind my platform. I enjoy allowing my followers to see a content creator holistically. My brand is not only a message but a reflection of a person who continues to learn and grow daily. It’s essential to see the downs and the ups and failures as much as the successes.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an active duty Army Officer nearing 20 years of service and retiring next year. It has been an honor serving this country and caring for your friends, family, and loved ones. I have spent my entire career working with people from all over the United States and abroad. Military service has taught me to drop my perceptions of how life should be and try to look at things from various perspectives. To be an effective leader, you learn that you can’t make lasting changes in people if you don’t try to understand the people you are trying to help.

Principles of leadership and Army values have greatly helped me with this platform. It’s not to say I have been perfect. I have stumbled on my journey, but personal accountability and willingness to learn and continue to grow will guide me through my journey as a Carnival content creator.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would stay at the Intercontinental Buckhead. Some of my favorite spots for food and drinks include the Skylounge at the Glen Hotel and ILounge. I’m pretty simple, so I don’t mind finding some electric scooters to ride around and sight-see. Whatever I do, I MUST make it to Mary Mac’s tea room for Sunday brunch.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to thank my mentor, Lakeisha Logan, who sat me down one day and forced me to create my platform. It was supposed to be a personal page as a frame of reference. I cannot believe it is where it is now! This church woman loves me like a mother even though I cuss like a sailor and have different religious views. She’s one of the few people in life that demonstrates God’s love. I am so grateful for her.
