Hi Torey, what do you attribute your success to?
The driving force behind Beats X Books’ success is the solid foundation of community and collaborative partnerships. The generous and lasting support from friends, industry leaders, and the community fuels our mission to cultivate leadership and skill in the music industry. The genuine goodwill and enthusiasm of our supporters enable us to deliver truly impactful programs, fostering an environment where young talents are recognized, nurtured, and propelled towards success in their lives both in and outside of music.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Beats X Books is not simply a brand; it’s an incubator for nurturing the industry’s emerging talent and future leaders. Our unique approach blends proven music industry education with critical thinking and hands-on learning, setting us apart and equipping our students with the tools for success beyond just the music scene. We are most proud of how our students not only perfect their artistry, but also evolve into community leaders and industry innovators.

Our journey to the present wasn’t a simple one. It’s been defined by determination, adaptability, and learning from each challenge we faced. Securing funding, ensuring quality, staying ahead in the rapidly evolving music industry, and staying true to our vision were challenges that tested our resolve. Every obstacle, however, was a learning opportunity that taught us resilience, the incredible power of community support, and the power of innovation.

One of the most enriching aspects of our work at Beats X Books has been the privilege to work with influential artists, producers, and other leaders in the music industry. Collaborations with talents like Mulatto, Zaytoven, 808 Mafia, and partnerships with countless other Grammy-winning and multiplatinum innovators have not only enriched our program, but provided our students unparalleled exposure into the world of professional music and success.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In Atlanta, I’d give my best friend a taste of the city’s dynamic culture and the spirit of Beats X Books. We’d dive into the local flavors with breakfast at The Busy Bee Cafe, hit the record shops in Little Five Points, and experience the vibrant blend of dining and entertainment at Privi Stonecrest. Our nights would be filled with the energy of live music at The Tabernacle, and we’d wind down with walks on the Atlanta BeltLine. We’d cap off the visit with meaningful reflection at the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, a place that mirrors the transformative impact we aspire to create at Beats X Books.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I owe a tremendous shoutout to Dina Marto. Her mentorship during my time at Twelve Studios wasn’t just about guiding us through the complexities of the music industry—it was about demonstrating the power of integrity, compassion, and genuine support. She’s been both an open door and a guiding light, leading myself and my team to opportunities that have been truly pivotal in our growth.

Dina’s success is a testament to her work ethic and her unwavering commitment to uplifting those around her, and her passion for nurturing talent and building community is not only admirable, but infectious. Her influence in my life and my growth has been profound, and for that, she deserves every bit of recognition. Dina is not only an icon in her field but also a beacon for those of us aspiring to make a meaningful impact through music.
