Meet Tony | Clothing Brand Owner and Designer.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tony and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tony, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I really didn’t have a thought process on starting my own business. I Just new working for someone else would never get me to the full potential I seen myself headed to and the vision I had for myself. I just knew I wanted to create something memorable and beneficial for the world and the peers among me.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Well at Blackicons, our mission is to celebrate and uplift black culture by providing stylish and quality urban apparel and lifestyle products that showcase the resilience, creativity, and beauty of our people in stylish garments.
Starting a clothing brand is not for the weak I can say. You have to really be open minded with this creation because everyone will not like what you create or design. That just life in a nutshell. You gotta just create until you find you way and see what the world excepts. Every drop will not be your best but you can also learn from every drop, how to make your next one better than before.
Those are challenges that comes with anything your doing in life. Always stay ready and nothing will surprise you when your hit with those dealings. In this clothing game you just have to master the art of staying consistent on creation so that your mind is always flowing and able to produce. Find inspiration in life and thing around you so that you can stay open minded.
We are more than just a clothing brand, we are a movement that committed to using our platform to raise awareness and support for social justice causes that affect black lives and to create a space where our customers can feel proud, confident, and inspired to be themselves.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my son. Prince Amir, if it wasn’t for you I don’t know what way life would have taken me. You saved my life and motivated me to become a better man, father, & leader. My son always watches my steps so with that being said I had to change how I move and make sure every move was vital in bettering him for his future to come. Just seeing a small version of yourself in someone else is amazing and so joyable. Who would not want to do right and guide them to become the best version of themself daily.
