We had the good fortune of connecting with Tonie Doshea Boyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tonie Doshea, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always thought ahead, even as a teenager so when I decided to start my own business I was thinking about my future, my goals and my aspirations.
What should our readers know about your business?
DOSHÉA Cosmetics, LLC is a beauty brand that’s been in the making for years. I’ve invested more than enough time, effort and money into making this my reality. Going back to when I was selling my well-known clothing collection “D.I.G By Doshea”, I’ve always had this in mind. I’ve always had a passion for makeup and I knew one day that I would have my very own cosmetics brand! After all of the adversity I faced I never gave up, that’s how I got to where I am today. I kept going, no matter how many times I had to start over; I was determined. One thing that sets me apart from others is my ambition, my skills, my thought process and my drive to get the job done. My mom didn’t raise me teaching me to depend on others. She always taught me to have my own, anything after that was extra! My brand was created with the best formulas known to date and are paraben free, cruelty free and are NOT tested on animals. I can’t wait to launch this fall, October 2020!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is fun and there’s always something to do. Unfortunately, it would be difficult to have a good time right now with all of this stuff going on. But depending on where their interest lies, I would show my best friend some good restaurants, like Busy Bee’s Cafe, J.R. Crickets, Escobar, etc or I would show my best friend a couple of landmarks, like Phipps Plaza, The Trap Museum, Magic City etc. I’m always down for a good time so I would most definitely show them the fun spots.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom has been supportive of me since day one, with everything. If I needed help she was there, if I needed advice she was there or if I needed direction she was there. My little sister has also played a role in my success as well and I appreciate the support and I am very grateful. It’s makes things go smoother when you can work with people you know and trust, so shout-out to them!
