We had the good fortune of connecting with Toni Swain and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Toni, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson my business has taught me is to never give up on what you really want and to stay consistent always. A lot of sales may not come in every day and some days are slower than others, but you always have to show up for your brand. You never know who’s watching or who could become a potential customer.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started my business in July 2020 during the pandemic. In my opinion, this was the best time to start because I had graduated college the year before, and during this time many consumers were transitioning to mainly shopping from home. I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising and knew I wanted to start my own business. In the beginning, my business started a little slow, but since then I’ve shipped to many different states. It wasn’t easy and there were a few challenges, but I overcame those challenges by making sure to cater specifically to my target audience and showing up for my business even on the slow days by simply marketing on social media. A few things I’ve learned while running my business is that it’s okay to not appeal to everyone and you honestly can’t make everyone shop from you. That’s why knowing your target audience is important because those are the people who will be loyal to your brand. I want the world to know that Lucid Tagz is just getting started and we have so much more in store to bring to the world. We’re looking to add more plus-size clothing to the brand as well as other accessories.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My biggest support system is my family and friends. Family is very important to me. I speak with my mom, dad, and siblings almost every day and we always find a way to uplift each other. I have close friends who always want to know what’s new and upcoming with the brand and they make sure to keep me on my toes. I think it’s very important to have a group of individuals behind you that will keep you grounded and uplifted.
