We had the good fortune of connecting with Toni Chauntay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Toni, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always been a creative but didn’t consider pursuing a career. I thought I was supposed to be on this professional/CEO track. In 2018, I was extremely miserable at my job and in life. I felt I had no purpose and was a zombie going through life as I thought it should be. I decided to take acting classes as an outlet and fell in love. Something awakened in me. One day, I woke up and decided to submit my 30 day notice. I had no plan but knew I was meant to create and Ive haven’t looked back.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m committed to writing and producing content that showcases women of color as lead. I’m 5’9, 245lbs solid. I don’t see enough of people who look like me as lead versus the sassy or goofy friend. I don’t see enough diversity. I want people to move past what looks good to sell. But more so what talent will bring the vision to life. I know everything isn’t for everyone. But I know I have talents that can share a piece of the screen.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to Venice or Clearwater beach, a seafood boil bag from Mr. & Mrs. Crab, wine and cigar from Cigar International, and Karaoke at Blue Flame.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out Danielle T., Ivy Sunflower, and Church Sinatra for being my village, rocking with me, and riding on this journey with me. I’m a movement by myself but we’re a force when we’re together!
