We had the good fortune of connecting with Toni Bryce and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Toni, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Over time, I have made it a necessity to have a work/life balance. While managing a YouTube channel, focusing on getting my Bachelor’s degree, and an internship, securing time for me is something I truly value. Every weekend, I make sure to leave the house at least once for some leisure time to myself. This is an act of self-care that I believe every entrepreneur should establish into their weekly routines.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a content creator. I currently have a commentary-based Youtube channel where I discuss prevalent issues within society whether that’s unrealistic beauty standards, colorism, racism, etc and discuss true crime cases. I started creating content like this just a few months ago. My Youtube channel has gone from a beauty/lifestyle channel to a commentary-based channel. I first primarily made beauty/lifestyle content because it was more popular and I thought that it would bring more attention to my platform. Though I liked making that specific content, I did not love it. I have always been told that I should have a talk show because I am very opinionated and can hold a conversation all day so I thought why not use my Youtube channel as a basis for my future. Though commentary-based channels are not as popular as beauty/lifestyle channels, it is content I truly love to make and a passion of mine. Knowing I made a difference in this world is all that truly matters to me!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my best friend to New York City which is about 40 minutes away from me. We would go to a really nice brunch spot in the city and then go to a cool museum. The brunch spot I would take them to is Santiago’s Beer Garden in Harlem because the food, drinks, ambiance, and service are amazing! The museum I would take them to is the Museum of Ice Cream because it is a really cute photo op! We would probably end the night walking around a local New York park and grabbing a sweet dessert to eat!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout my mother for constantly pushing me to create content that I truly love. Transitioning my channel from a beauty/lifestyle channel to a commentary-based channel is the best decision I’ve ever made. I genuinely get excited filming content now.
