We had the good fortune of connecting with Tobias Wells and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tobias, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
My End goal in life is to change the world through my music & haircuts, create generational wealth for my children & family. I come from a city where we never had much of anything, everyday losing family to street violence, everyday it made me realize how much I’d have to do to make it out, i taught myself everything, anything I didn’t know how to do i would sit there and read, watch videos , study and master each craft, what i want in the end is to be comfortable for my family to live with financial freedom. I want to go back to my hometown Chicago and open a nonprofit after school program place to keep our youth from falling into the streets, and give them another look on life. If i learned how to be a Music Artist & Producer / Audio Engineer/Poet/Private Celebrity Song Writer / Ceo & Founder Of Kilo Promo & Kilo Records / From Chicago / Brand Ambassador For 2 Jewelry Companies / Licensed Chef & Barber. These kids can accomplish so much more than me, and i will help them see that.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As far as me being a barber for 7 years i have noticed you can’t afford to make mistakes, every time I cut a head, I aim for perfection because that what my clients look for right? The best cut , the best conversation & services. In this industry you cannot afford to make a mistake and I always stuck to that motto, sticking to that made me a 5/5 star rated barber , i have no bad reviews, of course i messed up haircuts in the very beginning but when i was ready to present myself to the world i made sure they was no room for error. My biggest challenge in being a barber as well as a music artist was communication because i’m very shy, being in these careers made me a-lot better with communication & this creates bonds, you never know who hair your cutting, who is in the next room when your at the studio recording songs, how i overcame that was to just start off with my favorite line “where are you from” or a simple “how are you” can get a person to open up to you like a book. I think everyone should know to never give up even when the odds are against you. Believe in yourself & invest in yourself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spot in the city to take someone would be Rio’s Italian ice and cafe bourbon street, in chicago we really love Italian ice but the Italian ice here is 10x as better as back home, it changes your look on Italian ice forever. Cafe bourbon street is just fire, the best soul food I’ve ever had here.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My grandma, she practically raised me , always told me i would be the way out, that i could do anything and her words turned me into the greatest version of myself, there’s no better barber then me, or music artist in my eyes, the only competition i have is myself and throughout my life i battled depression & anxiety. My grandma helped me through all of it. Her words of encouragement and mentoring created me into the multi talented young man i am today.

Without her i wouldn’t be who i am. I would’ve probably been in the streets up to no good, but my granny refused to let me become a product of my environment.
