We had the good fortune of connecting with Tobias Armand and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tobias, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
The Tobias Armand Cancer Foundation is a national 501c3 Non-Profit Organization built on the passion to combat the fight against cancer and aid those affected by the disease.

This foundation’s objectives include:

TACF and its member organizations have a common goal to strategize in impacting equality, justice, accessibility, reliability and encourage a sense of community. Our purpose is to aid those we help in aiming for a good life without cancer and help those, despite a cancer diagnosis. For those who are affected, the foundation will help as many as possible make a full recovery, and those who have incurable cancer can live as full lives as possible.

Motto:

Stand for the Broken

Inspire Those in the Battle

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
The purpose of the Tobias Armand Cancer Foundation is to combat the fight against cancer and aid those affected by the disease. This foundation’s objectives include: financial support, counseling/therapy, community events, activism, research, education, rehabilitate services, and fundraising on all levels. The foundation’s goal is to strategize in impacting equality, accessibility, reliability and encourage a sense of community. Our purpose is to only to aid those we help, but also to encourage a good outlook on life despite a cancer diagnosis. TACF was established to aid patients/clients of all ages and walks of society. The resources are universally accessible to those in need.

I’m extremely proud of the fact that the foundation is only within its first year and has already made a substantial impact. You can reach us via the web at www.tobiasarmandcancerfoundation.com and all social media platforms. There’s been a number of milestones in education & prevention, the importance of a healthy lifestyle and guidance on the steps & resources needed to live a fulfilling life with or without cancer. We have corporate sponsorship from some of the largest mass market retailers, celebrity financial supporters and ongoing support from grants/donations.

When I think of the long nights, research, networking and investment it took to make the foundation possible, I can’t but feel a sense of pride. The task to create a non-profit takes a great deal of tedious work, but the payoff is quite rewarding. You can create a legacy through your business, stand for a great cause and help countless people/organizations in need. TACF has many upcoming events and vast variety of merchandise that can be found on the website. Building a powerful brand is vital to the success of any business. A brand for a company is like a reputation for a person. You earn reputation by not just saying what you will do, but through taking action. May the work I’ve done, speak for me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta goes by plenty of nicknames…New York of the South, The Big Peach, The Big A, A-Town, and even ATLwood to name just a few. Commonly noted for its entertainment, celebrity locals and growing movie industry, Atlanta is quite known to be a hotspot tourist attraction. There’s a plethora of history in its roots and you’ll find the best variety of foods, attractions and exciting places to visit. I for one am always looking for a great new place to dine.

Whether it’s fine dining or more of an eclectic taste you can find it here. Some of my absolute favorites are Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, Peach Cobbler Cafe, Breakfast At Barney’s and Little Alley Steak. There are countless more options, but far too many to list. If a person is visiting the city you must experience some of the go to places to see as well. The Underground, Ponce City Market, Little Five Points, Piedmont Park, the Mercedes Benz Stadium, the Atlanta Aquarium, SkyView Atlanta, Tyler Perry Studios, Atlanta Botanical Garden and Cascade Family Skating are certainly ones to check off the list!

Not only will you find the excitement in places to go, you never know who you may see! With all these characteristics, it’s no surprise that these celebrities choose to live in Atlanta: Cardi B, Elton John, Usher, Monica, Kelly Rowland, Ludacris, Gucci Mane, Tyler Perry, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Zac Brown, Toni Braxton, Jeff Foxworthy and so many more!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Success is a state of mind. If you want success, you have to be willing to give your all to see it come to fruition. When asked who or what influenced my journey, it would seem to be a simple question. However, it’s a multi facet response for me. For example, my goal has never been simply to win. I’ve always had an insatiable desire to influence and encourage others along the way. It’s more than the accolades, your brand is the most important investment you can make.

That being said, this urge was a catalyst. The path that I chose was very much influenced by my younger sister, Shakyra LaShae who is quite a success story herself. She’s not only a noted Sag-Aftra actress, but also a published model and entrepreneur. It’s ironic that, in life your influence can sometimes come from someone much younger. I’ve always done my best to be a mentor, open ear and protector as the eldest brother. So family is very important to me. From an early age I noticed a particular mindset and determination in her. Years later, she has created a great deal of success for herself. In one of our many conversations several years back, I expressed how proud I was and that it had always been a desire to be a male model. I went on to say how ecstatic I was that she took on that torch and carried it well. Fast forward, she secretly submitted several of my images to a talent agency and the rest is history.

With this in motion, many doors opened and acting quickly became my life’s passion. It allowed me to discover and explore talents within myself that I had not known to have existed. It has allowed me to live not only a successful life, but one rewarding and exciting. One in which you never know how the next character from a script may challenge you. Success is not only about the results, but the adventure that helped you obtain it.

The founding of my 501c3 non-profit, Tobias Armand Cancer Foundation was the result of a number of different factors. One would be the recent passing of my sister, Tiara Benn-Reyes in March 2021. She fought hard, but tragically lost her battle with cervical cancer. As one can imagine, this was devastating for not only me but my entire family; especially at the early age of 36. A woman with so much creativity, passion, love for life and giving heart, I only thought it right to create an organization that helped others battling this deadly disease. What others may not know, is that I have also battled with cancer and have been a survivor for nearly 13 years.

Through it all, my mother has always been the pilar of strength and a major influence on my life. My sister’s two young children, also drive me to keep growing and superseding each previous chapter in life. My experiences, resilience, passion and positive outlook have molded me into the man I am today. There is so much more ahead and I want my life’s work to be an inspiration.
