Meet Tisha Johnson: CEO/Co-Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tisha Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tisha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was having complete freedom from a 9 to 5. I was thankful for a job at the time because it paid the bills, but I always felt like it was more for me to do.

I felt empty, angry, and like time was being wasted. I knew I had more to offer and being at a job was holding me back from that.

So, when I finally started my business the time freedom that I have, not being stressed out everyday and being able to be a full time mom made being my own boss…. the best decision I ever made.

What should our readers know about your business?
The name of my business is Skrumptious Gourmet Fruit DeLites, LLC!

What set us apart from others, is the taste and love we put in our products. We create amazing toppings and put in on delicious fruit like grapes, strawberries, pineapples, and bananas. We like to say it’s a heaven on fruit.☺️

I’m most proud of starting my business from scratch, not really knowing what I was doing or even if it’s going to be successful but I took a chance and the results are amazing.

I’m excited for the next level in my business, with new connections and expansion.

I got to where I am today business-wise first because of God, but because of my support system. I worked hard and made sacrifices and did what was necessary to get to where I am.

Of course it wasn’t easy, lol! Nothing that comes easy is successful in my opinion. I overcame my challenges just by pushing through. No matter what came my way, which was a lot I had to remind myself Why I’m doing this. My ‘Why’ has always been my driving force. If I was to give up it wouldn’t just affect me but a lot of other people as well.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is it take a Team to be successful. You may want to put your hands in everything, but that slows down the process and it definitely stress you out, lol. So, don’t be prideful, pray, and trust God with the help that He sends you.

I’m just a girl from the south side of Chicago, I came from humble beginnings, single family home, two siblings, and the hardest working and supportive mother I know. My mom taught us what she knew and she did an amazing job with us.

My mom started her own business 20+ years ago, she definitely has taught me a lot about running my own business, so I’m thankful for her.

I’m humbled, honored, and blessed! This is just the beginning for my Skrumptious brand. We are just getting started, my brand is going to be worldwide, it’s still a ton of work to do but I’m READY!!!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love it!…It’s a lot to do in Georgia and I’m fairly still new here, but I know a few spots lol!

I would take them to the Georgia Aquarium, Ponce City Market, Bowlers, the Trap museum, Selfie Paradise, Tyler Perry Studios, and ALL the malls we can hit, lol!

Some places to eat and drink I would go to Costa Mar Mexican Resturant, Thumbs Up, Cirque daiquiri bar and grill, The Juicy Crab, Cafe Intermezzo, and a few other spots. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First…I would like to shoutout and thank God first and foremost, without Him none of this would have been possible.

Next… I would like to thank everyone that believed in my business and invested in my business, I can’t thank you all enough.

I would like to shoutout my two daughters Diamond and Skye, they both played a huge roll in me starting my business. They helped me so much with keeping things going even when they didn’t feel like it at times, lol. I truly appreciate and Love my girls!

I would also like to shoutout all of our loyal customers, family, and friends. OMG we wouldn’t be where we are without them. They are the absolute BEST!

I would like to send a Special shoutout to my dad Alvin Gray, he has played a HUGE roll in my success and starting of my business. He is one of my number one fans and supporters, thank you daddy!

Lastly… I would like to thank my business partner/co-founder/best friend/Husbae for seeing my vision and stepping up to make it all possible. He has been the backbone of this business and I thank God for my husband and everything he do to keep us going. I Love You Husbae!
