We had the good fortune of connecting with Timothy Lens and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Timothy, what do you attribute your success to?
For my brand I believe quality and consistency have been one of the most important factors with my success, as well as networking and building great relationships within the industry.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Im a Director/Cinematographer from Chicago Il./Minneapolis, MN. currently based in Atlanta, GA. I offer creative and innovative imaging concepts to project professional images. I work closely with each client in order to gain a precise discernment of their project desires and strategically formulate the optimal display of imagery for the project. One thing that sets me apart is affordable rates with quick turnaround speeds, and the consistency of quality that I produce. As far as my road to where I am today, it definitely wasn’t easy, and even now I have so much more to learn. I’ve spent countless hours studying others, and learning new techniques to incorporate into my own art. Thoughout this road to 10,000 hours so far I’ve learned to not overthink it and that some of the top directors inn n the business have all traveled similar paths to pursuing greatness.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a best friend visiting Atlanta, there a few gems that I would take them to. One of my favorites places to frequent is the Jackson Street Bridge, this bridge was one not the filming locations for the hit series “The Walking Dead” it has a great view of the Atlanta skyline and is a place where you will find photographers and filmmakers at all times of the day. At night there’s a really cool place called The Painted Pin offering bowling, music, great drinks, food, and others games, this place is a great hangout spot. When it comes to the food scene, I love wings so my go to spot would be a place in Midtown called J.R, Crickets, they have some of the best lemon pepper wings in town. Atlanta is full of exciting things to from taking a stroll through Peidmont Park, Centennial Park, to a nightlife that offers a lil bit of something for everyone,
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The person that has been my day 1 with film, as far as encouragement, love, and support and just overall friendship has been my wife Sylvia Timothy. Without the support of her I definitely wouldn’t be as far as I am today, she has played a significant role in my success.
