We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiger Coleman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiger, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Well honestly, my entire career is based on me taking risks & stepping out on faith. When I was younger, I always imagined that I’d be a professional choreographer/dancer, because I loved to dance. But clearly life had other plans. While In high school, I made the bold decision to not go to college (because I hated school) and to attend cosmetology school. It initially wasn’t my first career choice, but I knew I wanted to live the life I seen for myself once I graduated high school. While attending cosmetology school, I took a risk with trying makeup, I didn’t consider myself a makeup artist or well rounded cosmetologist at that point but I noticed the comfortability & the excitement it brung me & I ran w/ it. While pursuing makeup I always told myself, “I’m gonna make it in places I never imagined & let makeup put me in rooms I didn’t think I could be in”. And it did. I took a huge risk by starting my own cosmetic line & even creative directing. All were just spare of the moment thoughts & aspirations & I thought why not pursue them. Don’t tell anybody, just put on my big boy pants, get out of my comfort zone & do something I’ve been wanting to do. I did, and people loved it. From my clothing apparel, hats, and now cosmetics. Every choice wasn’t well thought through, I just figured if I do it now, I won’t regret not doing it in the future.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My artistry/craft is an honest reflection of me. Being bold, creative & unapologetically different. I’ve always had a “I don’t care” & “just do it” attitude and I used it to my advantage. Never listening to outsiders about any creative or career choices & risks I’ve taken, just being myself. I’ve hustled for so long to see all my visions come to life & still doing so. Clearly it’s a vision that only I can see but it’s mine & I’m owning it. Fearlessly & by staying focused on just that. My journey getting to where I am now has not been the easiest. I’ve had countless losses in my life & also times when I really wanted to just stop it all. But I thank god I didn’t. I found the courage & strength to pursue my dreams by any means necessary & become my own definition of successful. This is the most consistent I’ve ever been within a career, and I’ve been toyed with plenty of career options. But I love my resilience & persistence when it comes to my craft, I always try to better myself & out due the last move I made. Even with me now living somewhere totally new & different I still have to remind myself to grind & get out there & show people what I’m capable of. It’s definitely a challenge for me considering I’m not the most extroverted person, I’m very much so an introvert. But I constantly have to go into business man mode when it comes to getting new clientele & networking. It has definitely pushed me to be more upfront with people & also know that I belong. My brand name “MMO” which stands for “Make Me Over” is not just an exterior transformation, it’s an internal feeling I like for my clients to experience. The joy it brings to my heart to see people getting their makeup done or purchasing a black owned business cosmetics is priceless. I feel like I’ve made my mark in any room I‘ve stepped in & also anybody that I’ve had the pleasure of grooming & meeting. But I’m ready to do my big one!! I never imagined that I would be experiencing half of the things I have let alone making it this far in my career, but I know it’s all god. I’ve conquered being a makeup artist, having a vegan/cruelty free/hand made cosmetics line, and even creative directing. Now I’m ready go bigger & continue doing everything I want in life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well since I’m fairly new here & I’ve only been in Atlanta less than 6 months., I’m honestly still learning the places myself. It seems like it’s so much to do out here that I can be overwhelming. But I have visited a few restaurants around the midtown area that are really good & my favorite places to eat are fin & feathers, bugaloo, blue & nana’s.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well first & foremost, God is the man w/ the master plan & I owe any & everything I am & have in my life to him. I truly believe he has a serious anointing on my life. Next my mom, my mom has been the background to my foreground, my biggest supporter & just about everything that I aspire to be in life. And last but definitely not least, my aunt & manager Yvette. My aunt Yvette took a chance on me by helping me start my makeup career & also giving me all the right tools I needed to be a successful artist & businessman. She continues to stand in my corner & show me the right way to go about things & I love her dearly! I also wanna include my aunt laurnette & uncle David for molding me as a young man & giving me the confidence & strength I needed to be who I am & wanted to be in life no matter what anyone said.
