Meet Tiffany Woolard: Artist and Art Educator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Woolard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am originally from Queens New York. I was raised in a house filled with artists and entrepreneurs. Talent was always a source of income for my family. I learned early about marketing and design. Handmade felt like the motto in my family. It wasn’t original unless it was handcrafted. I don’t believe that I had a choice, it was create or nothing. The streets of New York were not only my home, but my drive and motive to always want the best and to push until I make it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a functioning artist living with a debilitating disease known as kienbock’s disease. Within the last 7 years I’ve had multiple surgeries and procedures done to both of my hands. When I create, I treat each project as if it were my last. I am extremely thankful for being able to use my hands. Both of my hands have limited range of motion, but I never let it stop me from creating. I believe that had I not developed this disease, my style would’ve never been born. I go by the name of Blue Soul Artist. My brand began when I was in my early 20’s. I knew that I wanted to use my talents, but in what way? To make money, become famous or to simply share my passion with the world? Right away I knew that I wanted to share my gift with others. At times never worrying about the cost or financial outcome. As time went on I realized that I was no longer a beginner but an advanced business woman needing her credit. I stopped focusing on the aspect of the dollar and more on my worth. My art consists of many avenues such as photography, design, custom art, jewelry and accessories. I had so many things going on that I couldn’t find the sole purpose of my business. One day I sat down after a decade of hustling and decided to rebrand myself as Blue Soul Artist Creative Services LLC. I placed all of my talents under one umbrella. It felt good to make this change. I have won awards for my art and have had my photography featured in multiple magazines and news publications. The advice that I would give to any creative is to find your niche, nuture it, develop your own style and never stop growing and learning!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First we have to go have breakfast! I would do Thumbs Up for a big breakfast! Or we could grab a coffee and treat from Dulce Vegan Bakery or Starbucks! Next we would hit Little Five Points for some vinyl at Moods Music and a little henna at the House of Henna. Next we are off to grab some thrifted goods at Rag-O-Rama or Buffalo Exchange. For Lunch maybe head over to RuSans for some sushi and then to the Ponce City Market Place to Village Market and other shopping then off to hit the belt line to walk it off all the way to Piedmont Park. The perfect place for dinner would be 26 Thai Kitchen and bar for some yummy Thai food and relaxing ambience. Next up to close out the night, Pin and Propper for a little football pin dropping!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I owe all of my drive, creativity and humbleness to my parents Raymond and Joan. When no one else believed in me, they did. Every idea, draft or concept that I come up with, I run it by them. I am always provided with constructive criticism and words of encouragement. Because of them I push for more and place failure under my feet. I live by the words spoken by mother “Never say you can’t, because you can”.
