Meet Tiffany Woodie | Baker/Cake Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Woodie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
That’s a really great question and I can honestly say that I’m not sure if I had a thought process before starting Posh Poundz, LLC. I only remember thinking I love food, and I love art… how can I combine the two? The birthing of Posh Poundz began with a simple Pecan Praline Pound Cake for my niece’s birthday. A cousin of mine saw the photo and posted it on her social media and requests started coming in non stop, before my business was birthed. I sat down and said to myself, ‘self if we’re going to do this,,, let’s go!” I remember waking up many nights with ideas swarming in my head and I would take those ideas and write them down but there was still no name. Having a very diverse palate, I was thrilled at the idea of offering something that I had not seen before…. pound cake varieties that were not only tasty and pleasing to the palate but also to the eye and then the name was born! Posh Poundz, LLC originally offered delicious and beautiful pound cakes but it was a year later when my very dear friend challenged me to ‘”step out” and try my hand at decorating. I was terrified…lol! But I was also motivated and empowered that he saw something in me that I didn’t see in myself. I will always remember my first layer cake, it was hideous… lol but he loved it and it was the belief that I could be successful that drove me even harder to work at my craft and my passion.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
For me art became therapy, in many of it’s forms. Although fond on many art genres, visual art and music seem to be a part of the fiber that makes up my DNA.. lol. My mom shared storied with me of when I was too young to remember when i would just constantly change clothes and dance around in the mirror… that began my love of fashion. I have walked a few runways locally in Atlanta many moons ago after falling in love with this pretty major fashion show at my Alma Matter. Georgia Southern University. It was called Blaqshion that featured urban/black fashion. It was one of those things that we looked forward to every year. I always loved crafting and decorating and didn’t realize how therapeutic it was until my grandmother passed away in 2011, I began painting and would spend hours and hours getting lost in my canvases. It allowed me the space to paint away the pain of whatever I was feeling in the moment. Fast forward to 2020, I turned my love of food and art into what is now today, Posh Poundz, LLC
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A week long?? Whew… I remember when I could go go go for days and days but now my outings are limited to weekends. Age will do that to you but outside is still fun lol. Ok let me think… there’s a few places I would go for fun, a few places i would go for food and a few places I would go to relax.
I really enjoy people watching sometimes, it helps me to remember that we are all different but yet we’re still the same. The Forum is a really great place to do that. It wouldn’t hurt that it’s also a great place for some retail therapy.
I would DEFINITELY recommend The Battery! It’s like an entire mini city full of shops and eateries and people. I’m not really into baseball but the field is amazing! And if you eat and shop ’til you drop, there’s hotels to choose from.
Being a foodie is sometimes hard, especially when that metabolism starts to slow down but I love a good brunch. Atlanta seems to be evolving into a pinnacle for brunch… it’s truly an experience now but the top two brunch spots that will ALWAYS have a friend in me… Copeland’s of New Orleans Atlanta at Cumberland and South City Kitchen Midtown. They NEVER disappoint.
I’m not a clubber so certain night life doesn’t fancy me but there are so many things in Atlanta to choose from. I’m a fan of interactive fun. Places like Andretti’s, Top Golf, Painted Duck. Golden Glide (childhood staple). and The Skyview Ferris Wheel to see the beautiful city that we live in with all of the lights at night… pure nostalgia!
For music goers like myself, they may find pleasure in concerts at small intimate venues like Tabernacle and City Winery or maybe even enjoy Second Sundays at the High Museum of Arts.
For a relaxing good time Jeju has been a favorite, there’s also Floasis Float and Sauna Center. For the tiny nature lover, hiking Stone Mountain and spending a few hours watching the surrounding area above is really peaceful and calming, but I must warn you…. the first few steps down look a little scary.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I first want to thank God for giving me this gift. It is truly an amazing thing when He gives you your FULL true purpose(s) in life. I give thanks to my mom for being my taste tester whenever I need her there, it’s never a no. I want to thank my sister for being my BIGGEST cheer leader, She pushes me in ways that she may never believe. I owe thanks to my two very best friends for always giving me advice on ideas and concepts that I share with them. I want to thank Amanda’s BarBeeQue… I am TRULY inspired by her story. I’ve known Amanda professionally and personally for a while and I saw her build her business over time and her journey is truly motivational and so inspiring. I would like to shoutout Coach Toni of CAO Elite, she HAS to be one of the hardest working black woman in the industry of cheer. The long-standing success of her program is what the world of cheer needs. As a former cheer coach, having a successful cheer program for what is now year 20 is honorable. She has worked hard to get her program where it is and I wish them much success and many, many more years to come. I would be remiss, if I didn’t give credit to my late grandmother deserves so much credit, maybe she knew I would be where I am because she left me her cook books and some of her cookware. I only hope that she’s looking down on me smiling. I would also Shoutout to my dear friend Sean, he has challenged me and continues to challenge me to take more risks, to think outside of the box, to find the thing that NO one else is doing in this industry and do THAT! And that’s what I want to continue to do.
