We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Kelly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiffany, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
To be honest, I thought that starting my own business would be the key to being able to create the best work/life balance possible. I went from being a PhD student and researcher to being a stay-at-home mom, and I really craved something in between those two polar opposite lives. I wanted to be able to set my own work hours, work for myself, and spend as much time as possible with my children while they were young. It’s so cliche, but those early years are so fleeting!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I love photographing my amazing family photography clients, but I feel that I really developed my vision as an artist through my macro photography, because those images have always been the ones I shoot for myself and not for others. There is amazing creative freedom in making images for yourself rather than for clients. When I first got into macro photography I read about all the “rules” and they just didn’t feel right to me. I set out to develop my own unique way of photographing and developing my creative voice, and that is probably what I am most proud of. I’m so glad I didn’t conform to the way that other artists were creating.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta and the suburbs have so many fun spots! I would definitely spend a day at Ponce City Market – grab some amazing food, walk around with an incredible cocktail, and enjoy a little shopping! Be sure to get a doughnut from Five Daughters and buy some flowers from JJs Flower Shop. From Ponce City Market you can walk down the Beltine and enjoy people watching and exploring. Another day I would suggest checking out the Avalon: there’s a glorious spa (Woodhouse), tons of great shops, and fabulous restaurants (Cru is my favorite!). My husband and I love going to wine festivals so that would be another weekend highlight. Lastly, the Atlanta Botanical Gardens is my happy place so I would definitely suggest spending an afternoon there!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom has definitely been one of the most encouraging people in my life. She has always supported me and believed in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself. She raised me herself as a single mom and is the most selfless person I know.

On a completely different note, Click Community played a pivotal role in my career by giving me the opportunity to launch the educating side of my business. Again, they believed in me even when I didn’t think I was ready for the amazing opportunities they sent my way.
