We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is putting God first. Christians are called to be brand ambassadors for Christ; and by doing so, we must operate our businesses in a way that is ethical and honest.
I try to put God first in everything that I do for my business. I do not cut corners, I am honest, and I operate in a way that is pleasing to God.
I do lie to get a sale and I do not get over on people.
God took his time with me; I founded Voguish Chic in 2014 when I did not know anything about business. My first year I made a lot of revenue, but not a lot of profit.
I prayed for God to help me see what I was doing wrong.
I had many questions and no answers. I was very frustrated because he had me “in process.”
In 2016, I obtained a customer service job. I hated it! I did not understand why I was there other than to pay my bills.
God had other plans; he was teaching me the importance of “excellent customer service.” I would speak to customers, upgrade their service and make their day.
My manager would always say, “smile and dial!’ “Your customers can hear you smiling on the other end of the phone!”
In 2018, I obtained a job as an Account Executive for a huge IT company. I managed commercial accounts by providing quotes, negotiating deals and scheduling meetings.
I quickly learned how to add enough margin in my quotes so that I could receive a profit. Then it clicked, God was setting me up for a blessing the entire time.
I was just “in process!”
In 2020, I relaunched Voguish Chic. I took what I learned from both jobs and applied it to my business.
If you log onto my website, you will see reviews about my “excellent customer service!”
I want my customers to feel like they matter; anybody can sell items to a consumer, but how many people can put a smile on their face.
I get the satisfaction of making my customers happy, seeing/hearing them smile lights up my day!
My business is a part of my ministry; it allows me to display God in my industry. As long as I keep God first and operate in a way that pleases him, then I will continue to be successful.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own a Women’s Footwear e-commerce store.
I’m set apart because I provide quality footwear; all my shoes are unique. They’re different in their own way. One may have funky heels and the other may have jewels all over.
I have an eye for “different!”
God got me to where I am. He taught me everything I know.
He put me in jobs where I had to learn customer service, negotiation, profit margins, revenue and marketing.
The best way to learn something is repetition; so in 2016, I worked in customer service where I was on the phone with customers every single day; and in 2018 I obtained a job as an Account Executive where I learned profit margin, revenue and negotiation.
I overcome challenges by praying and letting God lead the way. I think about how I should respond. If I cannot correct the issue then I try my best and let God handle the rest.
Overall, I operate with ethical practices; so it’s either right or wrong no in between.
I want the world to know that I provide Exclusive Women’s Footwear; and I also provide a service that is over the top!
“I want to provide a service that they will remember!”
I want to change the industry by displaying God in my business. They’re so many shady businesses that try to get over on people and I want to change that image.
I am a Christian first and a Business owner second; so I have to please God before I can please man.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take her to Pasha; it’s a cool vibe; and we would stay in because it’s COVID and I don’t want to get sick lol. No seriously, I’m a home body! I don’t go too many places and when I do, my friend’s suggest it.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank God; he leads and guides my decision. I’m where I am today because of him!
