Meet Tiffany DeBoer Owens

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany DeBoer Owens and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Work-life balance has been a BIG thing I have worked on over the past year. I have always hustled and honestly overworked myself. I love to work and to be successful, so it is easy for me to fall into the hustle culture. This past year I have prioritized rest. To do this, I had to bring boundaries to our business. Boundaries can be scary for a business owner, but it is necessary! Through my faith, I realized the importance of having a Sabbath and resting each week, so I can show up as my best self. The first thing I implemented was not working on Sundays. It helped me find a balance between work and rest! I usually start with one habit and then once I nail that one, I add another. After I built the habit of not working on Sundays, I rested on Saturdays when possible, only answered work calls during a set time each day, removed email notifications from my cell phone, time blocked to avoid overbooking myself, and outlined all my boundaries in each contract I sent to clients. I feel SO MUCH better and less stressed. Having boundaries gives you the freedom to enjoy rest rather than feeling like you “should be” doing something productive or in your business. No burnout over here!!

What should our readers know about your business?
We help businesses and organizations create a memorable brand through photography, brand strategy, and marketing. Our business name, Nostalgia Media, is all remembering something from the past and wishing to experience it again! How beautiful to be remembered by your clients/customers! Our passion is to help entrepreneurs tell their brand story., so their ideal audiences can remember them. We do this through getting down to the basics of the brand. No matter our service, we take the time to understand each brand and how we can best represent them. Even our branding photography session starts with a strategy session so help them understand their identity! You have to know who you are to build a successful brand! That is something that we had to learn to overcome is not knowing who we were as a brand. When you don’t know who you are or who you are suppose to serve, it can really feel like you are just complacent and going whichever way the wind blows. We are secure in who we are and how we show up for out customers because we took the time to educate ourselves and build our own brand. Everything in business in build on your brand!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In Atlanta, do have a few favorite spots! I love riding the Beltline and stopping in Piedmont park for a short picnic lunch. I always bring my camera to capture the beautiful art installations on the Beltline. We love the Victorian Atlanta plant right off the Beltline. Me and Bryan ALWAYS stop by Ponce City Market to visit all the local vendors and enjoy the amazing food. We always love Ton Ton Ramen and any of the pastries from Saint Germain are absolutely amazing!! I also really enjoy the Edgewood area. The Joystick Game Bar is a lot of fun. Frog Street Market is great and the Mercantile Shop there. Honestly, I just love all the cute shops and nic-nacs! OH and Thumbs Up Cafe is my absolute favorite for brunch/breakfast.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shoutout my business partner and husband, Bryan! He helped give me confidence in my talents as a photographer and the reassurance of helping make our business success. Day in and day out he loves and supports me as a wife and in our business. He is very encouraging and trusts my vision as we navigate the small and big decision in our business. He is such a blessing to work alongside.
