We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiera Dashae and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiera, what role has risk played in your life or career?
You have to take risk if you want the opportunity to propel your career forward. Even if it doesn’t work out as planned, the fact that you did it will move you closer to your goals. Two years ago I decided to produce a web series I wrote called “The Undergrads” which is currently on Youtube. I paid for the whole shoot out-of-pocket which was really rough, but in the end I was able to put out a body of work that not only showcased my talents, but my friends as well. I’ve been able to use my show to get other acting jobs, a new agent, and I learned a lot when it comes to managing a set. I’m glad I decided to take a leap of faith and put myself out there more.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being an actress is definitely not easy! You get a lot of doors slammed in your face before you’re given the opportunity to really show off your skills. It took a lot of hard work, consistancy, and a string of bad agents before I was able to start booking roles on a more consistent basis and figure out how I wanted to market myself. I’m a writer as well, so that gives me another avenue to create my own opportunities. Currently I landed a lead role in a short film called “KIKI” that I’m very excited about. It shoots next year and I get to play this bad ass hit woman from the 80’s. The character has so many layers and I love when I’m able to give my characters more depth and have fun with it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, in pre-COVID times I would have us hit up Blaqhaus in North Hollywood for brunch. I love that place! Bottomless mimosas, hookah, & soul food–what more could you ask for? You can’t come to LA without going to the beach, so we would do that and then go to Hollywood for the nightlife. If they wanted to do the typical tourist thing then I would add in the Walk of fame, celebrity tours, etc, but I would prefer to take them to a specific party or event that’s happening at the time. The Culver City Stairs or Runyon is another place I like to take people when they come visit. Its a good workout with beautiful views once you make it to the top.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My boyfriend definitely deserves a shoutout! I’ve never been with someone that’s so supportive and invested in my career. He’s always pushing me to do better, motivates me, and does whatever’s in his power to help me succeed. I’ve pulled him away from his busy schedule many of times to help me record last minute self tapes and he never complains. He is truly amazing!
