We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiara Lane and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiara, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It’s all about legacy for me, building an impeccable one. One of my biggest fears is wasting my time here on earth, so starting my own business and building a brand was an opportunity for me to not just make money, but leave something behind to the generations after me, while utilizing all of my gifts. I’m all about having meaningful influence in society, but I’m a creative, so through my own business I’m able to bring substance in creative rooms, tell stories, create art, make people feel good about themselves through fashion, and ultimately inspire people. The more my brand grows, my intentions remain the same… and that’s to inspire.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started modeling around the age of 12, and acting while in college, that was the kick start to everything I’m doing now. I consider myself a creative but the specifics of my job varies from day to day. I don’t like to box myself in, and I push my clients and even friends to not do the same. My motto is “create your own lane.” Some days or even weeks I could be focused on creative directing a project. Then, the next day I could be styling someone who’s building a brand and wants to improve their image, right before going to model or act myself. I’m too multi-faceted to be restricted to one lane, and regardless of what role I’m operating in, making purpose a priority is always my number one priority.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love good music, and food. So after a quick shopping trip and exploring the city, brunch or dinner, and maybe even an open mic event would definitely be on my itinerary.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A few years ago I read a book by T.D. Jakes titled “Destiny,” and it drastically shifted my thinking in the way I maneuver through life. I reread it every now and then just to remind myself to be intentional about every thing I do, including even who I surround myself with. When you develop a clear vision about where you’re headed and where you want to end up in life, it creates a certain level of focus and tunnel vision. You’ll realize everyone can’t go where you’re headed and you’ll become very meticulous about how you live, and the decisions you make on a day to day basis.
