We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiane Hamler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiane, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is focusing on the God-given gifts I have been blessed with to share with others. We all have special gifts and talents, really leaning into those capabilities we have helps make us successful. Distractions are something that we all deal with and practicing how and when to give attention to the necessary matters versus inessential matters is significant to a successful brand. The Tiane Nicole brand encompasses everything I enjoy: thrifting, styling, and uplifting women – something that has always been a piece of me. Engaging with women who want to give back to the earth by expanding the life cycle of clothing (the average total life cycle of a piece of clothing is 5.4 years!); helping them curate stylish affordable outfits; and encouraging them to live boldly while cheering them on as their self-confidence and self-love begins to flourish – all of which I believe are the most important factors behind the success of my brand.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career has always been driven by customer service and helping others. Ranging from job roles in retail, consulting, and business services I have been fortunate to work at amazing companies while building my network and working on my personal business on the side. I will be launching a second-hand and vintage online store this year (spring 2021) and I can’t wait to share the gems I have with my audience, new to come and existing! I have always been a determined individual. My formal educational background includes: a Bachelor of Apparel and Textiles Technology, a Master of Accountancy, and a MBA. I invested time and energy in my studies but I have also explored different areas of client relations and running a successful business by watching and listening to others. Being able to launch my own business makes me feel like life has come full circle. I foresee applying everything I learned which gives me the courage, motivation and confidence I will need as I explore the world of entrepreneurship. The Tiane Nicole brand is filled with positivity, authenticity, fun-filled, apparel conscious, fabulous finds that are unique to us as every person’s smile. We are excited to share our journey and help others along the way.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For an exciting trip in and around the city, we would check out the coolest restaurants like The Garden Room, Ms. Icey’s Kitchen and Bar, Five Church, Breakfast At Barney’s, Slutty Vegan, Play Bistro and Desserts, Escobar, and Chops Steakhouse. For day-time fun we would probably spend time at the Battery, on the beltline, Piedmont park, and the Marietta Square. For shopping we would definitely check the estate sales and thrift stores nearby along with some of the cute shops at Little 5 Points or Buckhead Village District (especially it’s HerMarket Saturday) for a luxury and small business experience. For a some tourist activities, we can visit the World of Coke, the Georgia Aquarium, The Atlanta History Museum, the National Museum for Civil and Human Rights, the Skyview, the MLK center, the Botanical Gardens and tour Downtown Atlanta on a party bike visiting local bars by booking the Southern Pedaler. We would definitely need to visit the breweries, wineries, cideries, and bubble tea places around like Red Hare Brewing and Distilling, Monday Night Brewing, Treehorn Cider, Urban Tree Cidery, Montaluce Winery, Kaya Vineyards, Kung Fu tea, Tiny Bubbles, and Sweethut Bakery. For more things to do, we could go on a luxury mural tour (blackgirlmagictours.com), check out the Atlanta Selfie Museum, the Trap Museum, karaoke in Doraville or Duluth, book Dine and Design for an at home dinner and paint experience. Last but not least, for nightlife, we can head to midtown or visit cute lounge spots in Atlanta like Blue Martini, Monticello, Suite Lounge, Whiskey Blue etc.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to first shoutout my husband, mom, dad and family for supporting me throughout my winding and sometimes messy (think hundreds of clothing items) journey. Next up, my closet friends (especially my bestie) for always pushing me forward, brainstorming with me, sending “I’m proud of you” texts and occasionally being my photographer and videographer. I want to thank the @tianenicole IG family, my thrift sisters, those who follow, like, comment, repost, send me DMs, etc., I REALLY appreciate every note, question, and word of encouragement (or any hype like “yaass”) that you send my way, it really helps me to keep going and I’m truly thankful for that. The group I call my distant mentors from the podcasts, to webinars, and blog posts from David Shands, Koeryelle, Dave Ramsey, Mattie James, and Shayla Hill (Random and CHic).Thank you all for encouraging me over the years to continue pressing forward, teaching, and motivating me along my journey.
