We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiana Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiana, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Honestly, I’m someone who thrives after major fallbacks. I know it sounds horrible to say, but as I can recall, everytime I had a short-coming, I always bounced back in a major way. But then as I got older, I started realizing that the decisions we make in the heat of the moment leads to either good or bad consequences. I wasn’t always the best at decision making. So now that I’m a seasoned 20 something, I think “how will this choice distort or benefit my future?”. Good habits start with deep decision making. If it won’t benefit you positively, it’s not worthy. If it will take you off your course, it’s not worthy. Also, learning to say “NO” and learning discipline compensates for time dedicated to yourself and your craft. I could go on and on about successful habits. But most importantly, keep in mind why you’re doing what you doing and where you’re trying to go. Go hard in that moment so you can enjoy the fruits of your labor in the end! So now I say, I thrive off of my upcomings and I maintain those upcomings with smart decision making, discipline, guidance and self love and affirmation!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Whew! So I started out at my current job in August 2020. After being laid off twice during the pandemic, I caught a break. I worked as a Sales Support agent for a large online home improvement company for 7 months up until now. I’ve just been promoted as a coordinator for our Operations department and I’m feeling super ecstatic. It wasn’t hard getting the promotion but, maintaining my professional etiquette wasn’t easy some days. Working from home for over a year and dealing with different personalities isn’t easy. Also, staying focused and doing online school while raising a puppy wasn’t easy either. Most days I was stressed, tired, irritated all in one. But using my affirmations and praying for guidance kept me focused. I also truly have a hustler mindset, so I’ll be damned if I let someone or something stop me from my coins! Nonetheless, my story doesn’t stop there. Circling back to school being in the mix. So, I’m in a Psychology bachelor’s program and upon graduating, I plan to continue on to Graduate school and get my masters in Mental Health Counseling. Yep, I want to be a Therapist! Ultimately, I want to heal the world in the most unique and creative ways. Atleast some of the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Okurrr so! As you have read, I have a busy and productive lifestyle. So once the weekend rolls around, its UP! (In the words of Cardi B). Upon the weekend, you can find me at a restaurant/lounge. For good food, drinks, and music, pretty much any lounge in Atlanta will give you a good night out. (Boogalu, Traffik, Medusa, Escobar, Edgewood). Or, if I want to do something more chill, I’ll head over to a fine arts museum and sip wine. A little shopping at the outlets never hurt while grabbing a bite to eat after. Or get into some action and hit Topgolf, Andretti’s, Sixflags or any adult arcade around the city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out GOD. First and foremost, my lord and savior because there was a time I felt LOST. We can have our friends and family, even strangers tell us whats best for us. However, nobody but God can truly dictate our everyday plans and future. Secondly, my family. My mother and my sister who are super seasoned divas and hustlers. My moms always in my ear about getting to my goals and taking care of business. Then there’s my sister, encouraging me to live my best life while finding a niche that makes me happy. Our tribe is so strong and so unique that we can do nothing but bring out the best and sometimes the worst in each other. But it’s all love. Then there’s a plethora of spunky and versatile friends and family that all show me my many different strengths. Books, podcasts, music, even TV shows that bring something new out of me everyday also deserve credit.
