Hi THEODOCIA, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I inherited my artistic and creative flair from my grandfather, who was a master of decorating. He would always transform any space into a festive and magical place for birthday parties and holidays. I was fascinated by the way he did table settings, using different colors, textures, and shapes to create stunning arrangements. He also paid attention to every detail, from the napkins to the centerpieces, to make sure everything was perfect. He made me feel special and appreciated, and I wanted to share that feeling with others. That’s why I decided to pursue a career in event planning and decorating, following his footsteps and his example.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is my commitment to customer satisfaction. I have over 20 years of experience in customer service, working in different roles and industries, such as retail, and banking. I have learned how to deal with different types of customers, how to handle complaints and issues, and how to exceed expectations. I always pay attention to the needs and wants of my clients, and I tailor my services to suit their budget, style, and vision. I also follow up with them after the event, to get their feedback and testimonials. I believe that happy customers are the best advertisement for my brand, and that word-of-mouth is the most powerful marketing tool. Nothings ever easy, if it was easy, it wouldn’t be called life. I think being a witty, problem solver helps with overcoming any unforeseen event. Also think positive and take pride that someone believed in you to execute their event to their satisfaction.
Lesson, I learned oh man so many, as I say Lesson are blessing, they will make you stronger. As a small startup company, you don’t have the staff so you where many hats, which can be overwhelming when on stage day of event. Now I approach event budgeting the appropriate number of staff.

I’d like the world to recognize that I dream in vibrant colors (laughs). This whimsical statement reflects my innate creativity, unwavering ambition, and strong work ethic. Throughout my journey, these qualities have been my guiding stars.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my best friend to see NYC, first stop Harlem for brunch at Angeles of Harlem, then downtown 42nd Street to see the lights, the people the action. Next stop Bryant Park for hot cocoa, Ice skating in the winter or movies and mimosa on the great lawn in the summer. Then my Fav STK Steakhouse in midtown, Next day we are on our way to Brooklyn to see the Spike Lee exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum,

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a Shoutout to my Mom, My Mom, is the most amazing person I know. She has always been there for me, motivating me, supporting me, loving me, and being my mentor. She never judged me, but always pushed me to do more than where my eyes can see. She taught me so many valuable lessons and helped me become the person I am today. You are not only my mom, but also my best friend and my hero. As a single mom of two she always knew how to make us smile, laugh, and feel special. She has a positive attitude and a sense of humor, even in the toughest times. She always showed me how to be strong, resilient, and optimistic.

She had accomplished so many amazing things in her life, recently purchasing an acre of land and building her 2nd home at the same time guiding me on my first home purchase. She had inspired me to follow my dreams, work hard.

Mom, you are the most beautiful, intelligent, compassionate, and graceful woman I know. You have so many qualities that I admire and aspire to have. You are generous, you always share what you have with others. You are kind, you always treat everyone with respect and dignity. You are wise, you always give me the best advice and guidance. You are courageous, you always face your fears and challenges with bravery. You are faithful, you always trust in God and follow His will. I can keep going and Shouting out my MOM!
