We had the good fortune of connecting with The Messenger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi The, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
One of the key words in the definition of risk is “expose”. Without taking a risk, you won’t be able to expose yourself to the success. I’ve been taking risks all of my life soley because I’ve always believed in my talents that I’ve been blessed with. By taking each risk, I take a chance on getting closer to reaching my goals in life. All success comes with some form of risk. If you want it, you’ll go for it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Outside of music, I am an Active Duty Soldier in The Army. It has been a grind for the past 9yrs inside the uniform. From different duty assignments, a deployment in Afghanistan, different leadership, and different roles I constantly have to adjust and adapt to my environment. I have to tell myself daily that it is bigger than me because I have a family to take care of. Music has been my peace throughout the storm of life that can come with being a soldier.

For the past 2yrs I’ve been traveling back and forth from my assignment in Augusta, GA to perform and network in Atlanta, GA. No matter if it’s during the weekday or weekend, if there is an opportunity that can put me and my family in a better position, I’m going for it.

I’ve learned that nothing can stop you from achieving anything if you really want to do it. I can go perform at a show in Atlanta which 2hrs away from Augusta and the show starts at 9:00pm. I’ll perform an amazing set and network with everyone there, drive back 2hrs and still make it to formation by 6:30am. That’s the mentality you must have in order to be successful in anything if life. It’s yours for the taking, but you got to go get it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in the city of Augusta, it’s plenty to choose from. I’d probably start off with the different scenes of nature like the Riverwalk or maybe a trip to the museum. During the week, we’ll stop by lounges like The Oak or Solé. Downtown Augusta is always popping on the 1st weekend of each month as well. On Sunday, we’ll end with a nice lunch at my favorite Mom and Pops diner called “Ruth’s”.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I would like to give thanks to God for blessing me with the gift of music and songwriting. I would also like to thank my wife of 11yrs for being my rock. I would like to thank my kids for being patient with the journey and also pushing me to be better in every way. I would like to thank my manager DJ Swagg, for being in my corner, being a mentor, and for always being true. I would like to thank my PVMG Team for keeping it solid and pushing me to go get it. To my family, friends, and fans I am nothing without you! Thanks!
