We had the good fortune of connecting with Terin Deanna and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Terin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I was younger I was raised by parents who didn’t work for a corporate job, my parents were entrepreneurs. My mom ran her own cleaning business for years, and still runs one to this day, and my father ran his own mechanic shop. While in high school I was told I needed to go to college, get a degree, and figure out a career path that would make me money in the future. All the things that went through my head were things like “dental assistant, a teacher, a nurse etc” but those weren’t anything that I was into or passionate about.

Years later after high school, I worked a few retail and fast food jobs, and eventually had my first child in 2016, after the first child I went back to work in fast food, and I had a second child a year later.. with two little kids being at home and virtually no way to work or produce an income, I searched for ways to bring in money from home or the internet.

A few years later I joined a makeup MLM company and it took off. It paid well, and i found the spark and joy of making an income from a “hobby”! Something I absolutely love to do.

I’ve always had the passion and love for makeup and being bold and creative with colors and styles!

Then, I researched on how to become a bridal makeup artist.
After that, my dreams took off. I’ve been doing what I love now for over 3 years!!
It’s the best decision I ever made and it took me years and years to find what I was actually good at.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Every makeup artist or artist in general has their own unique touch to their craft. I’ve noticed just like tattoo artist, and photographers, MUAs also have a unique feel to our work. Not one mua is the same as the next.

Was it easy getting to where I’m at now? Surprisingly yes. Haha, since I’m in a field of work where it’s my passion and basically a glorified hobby, getting up at 4am working 8+ hours a day standing on my feet the whole time with absolutely no bathroom breaks, nothing to eat, and just running on caffeine for a whole weekend Friday-Sunday doesn’t bother me. I look forward to every glam session I have!

The most challenging thing for me is being responsive with a busy life, 3 kids and a family to take care of along with running my business and getting back to clients, booking trials, weddings, photo shoots, content creating, posting online, giveaways and all the other stuff are where it gets really hard but it’s still super fun to do!
Such a bittersweet combination.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting for a week long girls trip, we would first start out booking an Airbnb in a cabin north of Atlanta.

For a girls night out, we would go to the city and dress up and get glammed up and go to the sundial restaurant. The view of the city is amazing and the food is even better!

Coming back after the night out, the next day we would go around the city and have our own little photo shoots! Krog street has the best area for photoshoots with all the art!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
One of my biggest support and encouragement groups is going to sound very crazy but it’s actually Facebook!!! I’ve had followers and friends that have followed my journey since the beginning and have showed nothing but so much love and support and words of encouragement! It’s crazy how total strangers, and people I have never met have such a big impact on my life! (Some I have met and are really good friends and people I know through family too!)
