We had the good fortune of connecting with Teri Holt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Teri, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is staying true to myself. I think that rings true for anyone. When you’re trying to provide someone else with a product or service and your heart isn’t in it, I think it shows. Once I decided to try to turn my hobby into a legitimate business I fumbled through the early stages of trying to find my niche. I tried doing what was popular. I accepted a lot of opportunities “just to see”…ultimately things didn’t click for me until I began to do the kind of work that brought me joy. The other side of that is you’re saying “no” more and inadvertently losing business in one way – but on the other hand your dream clients find you and then it’s magic.

What should our readers know about your business?
Every image that I take for a brand is a result of me studying who they are, diving into what their product is about and adding a little bit of my love into it. Although I have struggled gaining visibility overall, I do think it is my unique perspective that has helped position me in front of the clients I have worked with. It definitely has not been easy building the relationships that I have so far. I learned that you always have to be educating yourself and looking into other things you can implement into your business to better serve your clients.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I honestly don’t venture out into the city much. If I had to show someone a good time it would include meals on a patio, exploring state parks and finding the best bookstores in the city. That’s a good time to me.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I absolutely have to shoutout my family for encouraging me every time I found myself in ruts and spirals of self-doubt.
