Meet Tenisha Daniel | Momprenuer/Treat Maker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tenisha Daniel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tenisha, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is my daughter Jakayla and my faith in God. It wasn’t until I lost one of my incomes that I decided to look into starting a business. I never wanted to be the parent to struggle with children. I didn’t know how I would achieve the plan but I knew that I wasn’t allowing her to see a day of struggling as long as I had breath in my body. She is the first person to taste every product and she is the most honest person to taste every product. She reminds me daily that this is her business and she wants to be paid for watching me make all of the products. I was never the kid that looked up to celebrities and people that I didn’t know, it was always the women around me who I looked up to and inspired to be like. My daily prayer is that my daughter will have the same testimony.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been an employee for the Fulton County Clerk’s office for about 5 years now. I started Sweet Thangz By Kayla in March 2019, about 2 years after receiving my Master’s Degree in Forensic Psychology. It is not easy working a full time job, owning a business, being a single parent, and having a social life. I am most proud of my ability to keep going, even when I feel like quitting. Most days I am truly exhausted but when I read the reviews from my customers and see the smile on my daughter’s face I know that it is all worth it and will pay off in the end. The most important lesson that I’ve learned along the way is to use my resources. I’m always willing to help others but I don’t know how to accept the same help. I never want to feel like I’m a burden on others but since starting this business so many people have sown into my life financially, spiritually, and emotionally (expecting nothing in return).
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spots in the city of Atlanta includes any place that has good drinks, good music, and amazing food. I’m a foodie to the core. Lately, brunch has been my go to. Some of my favorite brunch spots include Suite Lounge, Nouveau Bar and Grill, BQE, and Nana’s Chicken N Waffles.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to my family, friends and all of my customers. There would be no Sweet Thangz By Kayla without all of the love and support from you guys. I would also like to give a special shoutout to my childhood friend Brittany (hairbybellebree). She is the one who initially told me to do what I love and make a business out of it. She takes all of my content pictures/videos’ and never hesitates to give me good business advice. I can go to her for anything business related and she’s always willing to help me.
Thank you all.
