We had the good fortune of connecting with Tenesha Hood and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tenesha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
In November of 2022, I decided that the hood home was more than just my hobby it was something I loved. Therefore I started a LLC — Hood Home Designs. I’m committed to elevating my home decor content, services, and brand.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have a passion for home decor and design. I enjoy creating spaces that tells a person and/or families life story. I recently, designed my first custom home in 2021 “the hood home” which is a based on the concept of modern day farmhouse. I was inspired by the small town where I grew up, and the nature that surrounded me which led me to create a piece of that where I live today. After the completion of the home in 2021, I was inspired to create the hood home Instagram page where I share home and decor design and lifestyle updates.

I would say the first year, was challenging but I learned a-lot about the home decor blogger space. For me the most challenging thing was staying consistent with posting and engaging with followers on my page. I’m not a huge active IG user however, I’ve learned that engagement is key to getting your content out there in order to grow your following base. My goal for 2023, is to increase engagement with my followers, increase content production, and launch my home decor design services/consults with interested clients.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One thing I enjoy about Atlanta is the food, culture, and the scenery. If I could plan a day trip, I would start our day/morning off at a local coffee stand in Marietta,Ga called “Session Stand” which serves yummy coffee and pastries. Next, we’ll visit Marietta square to check out some of the artwork and local shops, then grab lunch at my new local fav “Hamp & Harry’s which reminds me of a speakeasy/prohibition spot. Later, we’ll hike Kennesaw park to see the views and end the evening at Mac Chophouse for dinner (another local fav).

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, Courtney Hood! Courtney’s tough love has landed me in the position I’m in today. He’s always encouraged me to read, listen, and pursue the things in life that gives me the most joy! He’s truly my best friend and biggest fan!
