We had the good fortune of connecting with Tenesha Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tenesha, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
The habits that have helped me to succeed thus far is consistency and believing in my vision. Staying consistent with what I believe and love to do has worked, showing up and never letting outside influences affect my ultimate goals. Along the way, there have many who suggest what I should do, how I should do it and so on. Staying true to what I have envisioned for Aqualime Skincare to be and become in the future is what keeps me going and determined.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Since creating Aqualime Skincare almost 9 years ago, there have definitely been some ups and downs. It all began with creating products for my first child, who was suffering from a mild case of eczema. After lots of research, I knew I wanted my focus to be on making products that included only natural ingredients that would be beneficial to all skin types. My hobby of helping my son soon grew into a business. I love handling each step in the process from product design and development, sourcing and packaging. Throughout the years, the products offered have changed and grown but the vision is still the same. Artisan skin & body care products made small batch and inspired by nature. My product line has grown, beginning with just bath soaks and body scrubs to now includes facial clays, toners, soaps and more. I love being creative and have so many product ideas running through my head all the time. It’s hard to not to want to make all the things but I have to remember consistency and stay on that path.
Aqualime Skincare is a brand that blends nature with beauty, focusing on healthy, clean self care solutions for all skin types.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Self care time: Aesthetica Montgomery for some spa time Fav shopping spots: Beyoutiful Boutique, Local & Bloom and Home & Vine
Must have bites: Cheesecake Emporium, Plant Bea and D’Road Cafe
Dinner spots: Itta Bena, Acre and Vintage Year
NIghtlife: Downtown Alley Entertainment district and Leroy’s in Cloverdale
Must see spots: Legacy musuem and Rosa Parks museum
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Honestly, my husband Greg Carter is my main support system and mentors me along the way. From the very beginning he has guided and pushed me to be great and do work. It was mainly the push from him and seeing something in me that I wasn’t sure about is what ultimately put me on this journey of entrepreneurship. Greg is an amazing business man and entrepreneur himself so I look to him always for guidance, suggestions and encouragement.
