We had the good fortune of connecting with Telize and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Telize, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe that risks are so necessary for elevation and evolution of not only character but also in your talents/career. I am willing to take risks but like most people, there’s still times when I feel stuck in my comfort zone and need a push to make them.

I say all this to say that I am no stranger to taking risks. I made one of the biggest risks of my life about 6 years ago when I decided to quit Chiropractic school and pursue music professionally. And don’t get it twisted, your girl was doing very well in school, but deep down I just felt like I would not be happy in that profession in the long run and did not want to live with the regret of not following my true passion for music. At first things were hard but I can truly say I have no regrets about my decision and I am so excited to see where God takes me moving forward in my music career.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being an independent music artist is not easy. And at times circumstances can really challenge every fiber of your being. lol! But I am most proud of my resilience thus far to continue on in the midst of what life throws at me.

I am particularly excited to announce that I will be releasing my new EP titled “Price of Love” on 4/22/22. It has been a couple years since I released a project and a year since I released a single so I am ready to add to my catalog. As an independent music artist, I have to wear many hats to get things done for myself but it feels so amazing when things come together. Just to see voice memos, ideas and visions come to life is such a feeling of joy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So I am more of a homebody unless I am performing out in the city or traveling so I am not sure if I have favorite spots. lol I usually have shows Wednesday-Sunday so we would naturally be out having a good time at one of those spots. So I could be at Parkside Kitchen, Havana Lounge in Sandy Springs, The Reserve Kitchen in Conyers, Social House in Stone Mountain, Whisky BBQ in Riverdale, to name a few… And I love a good brunch so we would definitely hit that up too! Maybe Toast on Lenox since the food is great and the aesthetic is really nice!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, I would say my parents since they have been my biggest supporters and encouragement over the years. Also, my big bro Choyce! He was my first producer and the first person to really push me professionally. He gave me a shot when I was not completely confident and for that I am truly grateful!
