We had the good fortune of connecting with Teleigha Peavy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Teleigha, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My quote is my tag line “You are Covered in Every Precious Stones.”

This means that in the modst of everything in your life, anything you maybe going through good or bad, God have you covered. Put on his armor or tools.

Now did I really begin ? It’s all thanks to my grandmother! My grandmother is a Southern Belle. She believes that women should always wear a piece of jewelry, especially earrings. I use to get in trouble because I actually hated jewelry (I was a tom boy growing up). After I had my first child, I had to find ways to not fall into post partum because for her, I had to keep going. The solution was, make myself feel better not only on the inside, but outside too. So when I dress , I really dress even with matching jewelry. I eventually became to love jewelry.

As years went by, one Sunday I was bored, and I went to craft and home decor stores just browsing. Decorating and crafting has always been my passion. Well, I walked down the craft aisle for jewelry making and instantly loved the beads and started getting ideas. I wanted to start making my own jewelry. When I wore the set I made, I’ve gotten a lot of compliments and was asked if I was a designer, my response – No. One person says after my response, “ You should be.”

I thought about it and started taking tutorial lessons. Maybe 3 weeks later, after I made my first set of jewelry, the “paint” begin to chip away. I started researching products that will never fade or wear away. The answer was gemstones ! I’ve started reading about their pureness, metaphysical , and healing properties.
Then I discovered that they are mentioned throughout the Bible. My first reaction was, “ Wow! I get it Lord, I can’t run from it! This is what I’m called to do.” No matter what I do, my spiritual side keeps getting intertwined with what I do.

I’ve begin researching places that sells pure authentic gemstones and browsing the competition. I wanted mine to be unique and a different style. Each piece are handcrafted and only by a vision.

I overcame the opinion pressure peers and outsiders was giving me. “This is what trending now, or this is what’s in.” That wasn’t the jewelry style for me, it didn’t illuminate me or uniqueness. I also learned that everyone including those whoncall themselves professionals were not purely into building your brand. You have to do the ground work yourself.

Currently I’m taking gemologist courses amd webinars to learn more about certified precious gemstones and diamonds.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite restaurants are Cuts Steakhouse and Del Frisco. I love hanging out in the Atlantic Station and High Museum.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First thing always God for giving me the strength and courage to step out and do this brand. My business, brand, who i am, all comes from my maternal grandmother, Essie Shedrick. Her teachings amd lessons molded me into the women I am. Her reasons for us wearing jewelry (my sisters and I) is why i got into this industry. My grandmother made us wear earrings growing up. I didn’t understand at first, but from her point of view, I do now.
