“Working at ViacomCBS for the past 5 years has been a great experience. It was my first job out of college and I have the extraordinary opportunity to work with amazing people across news, entertainment and sports.
I was able to land my job through a networking event. With the media industry, it’s SO important to network. You really have to put yourself out there and not limit yourself to what ever you want to do in life.
As far as challenges, you will have to be okay with not having people to support you. The first thing you have to do it believe in yourself. If you have a passion or something that you want to achieve, then go for it. Throughout my journey, I’ve learned that you have to work for what you want and that if there is limited opportunity to create your own opportunities. Good things come to those who wait, but great things come to those who work. It’s your choice! You have to put in the work, you have to be resilient and persistent.”
Teena has also done freelance work within the event industry outside of her 9-5 job where she helps small businesses, talent. works onsite at events. She has had the pleasure of working with talent such as P Diddy, Meagan Good, Tyrese, Full Force, Lea Robinson, Power TV, Nathaniel Peterson, etc. and major industry events such as the Revolt Summit, Circle of Sisters, Urban World Film Festival, Rolling Loud, etc.
After working in the media industry and doing freelance work, this led Teena to later launch her business TeeMo in 2017. TeeMo is a one-stop-shop where small businesses can fulfill all of their business needs through forward-thinking ideas and dynamic business visions. Her team is filled with over 20 industry professionals in the fields of brand development, photography and event planning. Teena cultivated her greatest personality traits from the Cystic Fibrosis community, where she was humbled enough to consider herself a role model simply trying to leave her legacy in the world. She was diagnosed at a young age with a breathing illness called Cystic Fibrosis, but this diagnosis only gave her the strength and resolve to know what she wanted to do with the rest of her life. Striving to be a positive role model and leave her mark on the world, Teena created Redefining Life — Cystic Fibrosis in December of 2016 as a way for her to give back to the community that she had grown to become a part of since she was young. It was launched a month later and having a pedestal to stand on and speak became a great asset to Teena. It gave her the voice to become a guest speaker at schools and programs at many different locations as well as leading to features on websites, podcasts, and interviews. She also serves on the Adult Advisory Council for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
“For me, the goal has always been to leave a legacy known more than just a face. I want to inspire others to not limit themselves to what ever they want to do in life. Diddy always said “can’t stop, won’t stop” and I will continue to strive to be an inspiration and a positive role model to the upcoming generation.”
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Wow! I have a lot of great spots in the city. My favorite restaurant I would say is Sweet Chicks, . I can always go for a good brunch spot!
Downtown Brooklyn will forever be home for me. During my time at LIU, I’ve stayed on campus during my college days in that area. I love the scenery at night and walking to the promenade with my track friends.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a special shoutout to first give a shoutout to God for bringing me this far within my career. I also want to give a shoutout to my family, my mentors, and TeeMo. team for their continued support and being a source of inspiration. They truly help mold me into the person that I am today.
