We had the good fortune of connecting with Teela English and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Teela, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I’m a true believer in signs, and certain signs will let you know when to go harder or try something new. When I first entered college, I was there to study medicine. My whole 2 years studying, and I faced every obstacle a college student could imagine. I became sick during my sophomore year and had to leave school. During that time out, I was presented with signs that I should pursue business and marketing. From internships to scholarships, I took those signs as me giving up medicine to move onto something I was meant to do.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I created Bossy Marketing so that I could provide unique graphics, but also to educate business owners on branding practices. I think mixing education and services together is what makes Bossy Marketing unique.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Although this pandemic has turned me into a homebody, I still have a couple of favorite spots. First of all, I am a known foodie! Any spot I would take someone to will involve food, so my first place to hit up would be The Vortex. I love the crazy food and drink combinations, things taste good together that shouldn’t. Next up, you want a good margarita? Let’s go to 7 Tequilas, some of the most authentic Mexican food and margaritas I’ve ever had. Now to wrap things up with a nice send-off brunch, I’m going to Drem waffles. A combination of gelato ice cream and waffles, you can’t beat that!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out my family and fiance! My parents, Homer and Teresa, have always understood I was on my own path as far as careers go. I’m glad they trusted and understood my process. My wonderful and handsome fiance, Austin, believed in me wholeheartedly that I could start Bossy Marketing and successfully run it. I love them truly for always believing in me.
