We had the good fortune of connecting with Tee Jacks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tee, what are you inspired by?
I am inspired by people are unapologetically themselves, people who are the same exact person in every room that they step in. There’s this amazing energy you feel when you’re around someone who does not care what anyone else thinks of them. It’s motivating to see a person do things their way even if accomplishing the goal takes longer.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business started out as a tea shop and evolved into an online spiritual shop. With those products I started to connect with black women like myself on social media, as I did that I saw an opportunity to create a safe space for women who looked like me to become a little more uninhibited. I started hosting zoom meetings for us to have Full Moon rituals and just laid back kick it sessions to release some of the those feelings we keep bottled up. These sessions turned out to be amazing and really created longterm friendships. While it sounds all good and fun taking my business to the next level and revealing so much of myself with my clients, social media, and women around me was not easy. Because as I’m revealing these parts of myself I am also still growing and fucking up. So people are watching me evolve and bump my head in real time. It’s a challenge being yourself and that’s for sure, I want the world to know that it’s perfectly fine to not be perfect and we have to embrace that real shit! It’s not always cute but it’s absolutely worth it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Wow! So If you were to come to Detroit I would first off tell you stay at Shinola Hotel which is downtown, they have these amazing deep soak tubs and the rooms are just a vibe! Visit the DIA which is our art museum. Eat at Joe Muer in Bloomfield Hills they have the best oysters and the service is amazing. Now for a good bar night Visit North Bar & Grille or DUO lounge. Highly recommend walking around Greektown during the weekend, lol Greektown is like our Vegas Strip but not really. Last but not least take a cruise on Belle Isle! If you’re into erotic parties then attend one of my parties! That’s probably another story for another time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would have to shoutout my other half, his name is Tariq and every since he has walked into my life things have changed for the better. Two years ago my business was not headed in this direction, and it was not centered around me. It was fake spirituality and what I thought people wanted to see vs what I was actually interested in. Now by business is completely authentic I LIVE everything that I post, share, or recommend and it’s all because I found someone who gave me the space to be myself and encouraged it as well. Blessed to have him!
